  1. the difference between white conservative depression over Obama v. black depression over Trump is one really is coming for you.

  2. The Biblioracle: Hero librarians create fake reader to save books, outsmart algorithms

  3. [yells into the wind] "THE BEST AND THE BRIGHTEST" WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AN IRONIC TERM

  4. Eliminating the NEA and NEH would've happened under any Republican president. Trump not unique in that way.

  5. I actually feel a little sorry for the people who have to keep pounding out the same tired garbage year after year to please their funders.

  6. Ugh. Think tank bingo "accountability" "innovation" "data-driven" "economic inefficiency." These ideas have been failing for a generation.

  7. Because "learning curve" is a term you want to hear about the guy overseeing the country's nuclear energy.

  8. Always look forward to the Tournament of Books - and this one seems unusually difficult to predict.

  9. Attacks on tenure less easily made if all faculty enjoy prof salaries & benefits. Good reason to stand w/

  10. Must be some lessons here in terms of institutional operations and integration with the community the graduates enter into.

  11. In some regions, the degree doesn't carry as much weight because there aren't job opportunities to go around. How different is New York?

  12. Clearly, something is going right in academic programs, but also think that students graduating into a location of opportunity must matter.

  13. According to the data CUNY colleges doing amazing at fostering "mobility." Would love to see more reporting about it

  14. An illustration of why student data has to be managed by people working as part of public institutions, rather than sold to corps.

  15. If Davidson teaches ethics, they didn't stick with this guy.

  16. Failure to consider system issues is, at this point, almost a willful blindness. Enough failure CV's that actually reinforce inequities.

  17. 1000's of aspiring academics do exact same things and wind up in precarious employment. Retreating to "try and try again"pablum is gross.

  18. And if this is the takeaway of the consideration of those failures, more thinking is necessary.
