Almost all of the time, people are awesome when you give them the chance to be their best selves. But it can be hard to remember that.

  2. Beyonce's "All Night" has that Outkast nod with the horns, but the valedictory feel of it reminds me of Terence Trent D'Arby's 90s work.

  3. Have you thanked a public service worker today?

  4. My new venture: Here comes The Insurrection!  -

  5. Invited to a Facebook group for alumni of my high school. Comment threads are a stream of confederate flag avatars.

  6. Entrepreneur-turned-activist Anil Dash talks about the early days of the web and the ethical responsibilities of the

  7. Celebrate Prince's life & music; listen to today at 5:07 p.m. CDT.

  8. Huge missed opportunity in "Iron Man v Capn America: Other Dawn of Justice" to replace Jarvis with an Amazon Echo.

  9. You can use it like this.

  10. Nice touch on ’s editor: If you add a [TK] note to yourself, it gets highlighted in the margin.

  11. For those asking, yes, I have seen this. Yes, it's true & very tragic and had been getting worse for some time.

  12. Oh! This may be a good time to mention: I'll be in Minneapolis for Prince's birthday on June 7. Who wants to meet up around then?

  13. Listen, if you thought I was gonna stop tweeting about Prince because republicans were up to some stupid shit, you got another thing coming.

  14. But for the next 20 years, Prince regularly held parties and concerts at Paisley Park, and its pyramid lit up purple whenever he was there.

  15. The next year, Prince painted and redecorated Paisley Park in anticipation of his son's birth, even including a nursery. Still makes me sad.

  16. Our first glimpses came from Tom Garneau, then Prince's engineer. The Paisley Park website he made then is still up:

  17. Around that time, Prince first started opening up Paisley Park for parties with fans, and most outside use of the studio stopped.

  18. Back when I first went to Paisley Park in 1995, the interior was very plain, almost all white. It really was a space for working.

  19. Everybody's first reaction to seeing Paisley Park is that it looks so *normal*; it really does resemble a suburban office park in many ways.

  20. Shout out to when you think you all "artsy and shit" , but your just rude and annoying lol

  21. I mean, the meme’s already played out, but that bullshit fake running man that looks like a video game character got stuck on a wall? No.

  22. Just so you know, the policy has been, and will remain: tweet a link to a running man meme, and it’s not the *real* running man? UNFOLLOWED.

  23. Hello! It's time to introduce : 450+ vetted providers across six cities.

  24. Yay! Lots of great questions — gonna wrap up in 5 minutes, so if you’ve got any burning Prince questions, get them in now. :)

  25. A little lunchtime break: I”ll answer your Prince questions for the next 30 minutes or so. Whatcha wanna know?

  26. In general, trade & mainstream press prefer to treat new tech (especially consumer tech) as unassailable, rather than being critical of it.

  27. Though in the case of Theranos, the more egregious failing is from investors, and of course its odd slate of politico board members.

  28. This is what Prince could do. A brief instrumental snippet of The Beautiful Ones:

  29. The misery continues; I paid for something using a credit card with a chip in it. Payments rendered in geological time.

  30. So far this morning: accidentally jabbed a pin under my fingernail & poked myself in the eye. There's a reason these are metaphors for pain!

  31. (Everybody take notes on your mangoes, we’ll compare at the first mango club meeting on Thursday or so.)

  32. NYC & northeast folks who are in range: These gujarati mangoes are worth every overpriced penny:

  33. (typo there, meant "punhandle".)

  34. Best response I heard to this question was a few different people came up with "punhande" or "punhandling".

  35. High quality advertising in my Tumblr stream this morning. (Sketchy “financial advice”. Yay?) No way to report it.

  36. (That opening harmonica wail is what Prince sampled on "Thieves In The Temple".)

  37. If you're looking for a substitute song for the playlist, try the Chambers Brothers' "I Can't Stand It" from 1968:

  38. Every music service I can find is missing Soul Children's "Gettin' Too Close"; I think their album Friction is out of print in all formats.
