    The shitty thing about this tweet is that your kids will one day be old enough to Google their dad and may come across you calling them a "rarely fun," life-disrupting bad choice.

    I have 2 kids. 2 1/2 years & 9 months old respectively. I’ll tell you something I never see anyone admit... they are exhausting, frustrating & life-destabilizing. They are rarely fun. Sure, smiles are great, hugs are lovely, but it’s HARD & not obviously a good choice in life.

    Friend just turned 50, got a colonoscopy. Turns out he has cancer in his colon and it’s spread to his liver. He’s about to start chemo; prognosis is optimistic (God willing) but he’s in for a rough 6 months. Society recs for screening:

    My mother avoided colonoscopies because she thought they were "icky". She was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer at the age of 68 and told the average lifespan for someone with her diagnosis was 2 years. She lived 2 years and 3 days. Get screened.

    ., screening recommendation (and therefore insurance eligibility) is too high. It’s an arbitrary number based on averages. Insisted on getting mine at age 46 (cited family history). Thank G-d, I had polyps, but benign. Had I waited...

    Sad news. 50 is supposed to be the starting point for screening unless there is a family history for the disease. I have known ppl in their 40s get colon cancer, years before the recommended screening age. Best wishes to your friend and his family, they are a part of it as well.
