    She only understood the horrors behind the swastika when she took a tour of LA Museum of the Holocaust and saw artifacts. “There was a pair of baby shoes and a little carrier,” she said. “The shoes were as small as my hand. That really touched me.”

    Holocaust survivor Joshua Kaufman and WWII veteran Arthur Peterson (who happened to be visiting the Museum with his family) speak to students about their wartime experiences. Kaufman was liberated from Dachau by U.S. soldiers and later served in the Israeli military.
