    This type of specialist support requires a commitment to resource it. We've seen an example of the PCC in London pledge to direct vital funds into life-saving services. Government needs to do more too

    Victims of abuse may use substances as a coping mechanism. We know women who have faced extensive abuse & violence are at particular risk. We know of the importance of hollistic, trauma informed support Minister Victoria Atkins

    Today I visited the Drive Project in Croydon alongside representatives from the sector tackling violence against women and girls. They told me many service providers face closure due to a lack of Government funding, which too often means survivors are unable to get vital support.

    All 4 London Rape Crisis Centres with closed waiting lists. This is appalling and shows how vital funding decision is:

    Thank you to for hearing us on how we can best support survivors of sexual violence. The fact that the waiting lists across the 4 London Rape Crisis Centres were closed is devastating. This extra funding will go far in trying to ensure no survivor gets turned away.

    In 2011 Sally Challen was convicted of murdering her husband. Today she will appear in the Court Of Appeal using the defence of coercive and controlling behaviour. Her son David has led the campaign, which seeks to change how courts handle domestic abuse.
