Happy World Oceans Day!
Like your heart pumping blood to every part of your body, the ocean connects people across the Earth, no matter where we live.
Representing less than 0.1% of the world’s ocean floor, coral reefs provide habitat to approximately 25% of all marine fish, and scientists estimate that there are at least 1 million species of animals, plants and other organisms on coral reefs, many of which are unknown to science.
Rising sea temperatures due to climate change, as well as unsustainable fishing and pollution, threaten the future of these reefs. Together we can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, take the pressure off reefs and ensure our ocean remains the healthy heart of our planet.
