A for students of grade 10,11 and 12 was arranged at #SGVP International School. It was conducted by Mr #SajanShah who is a #motivational trainer, speaker and peak performance strategist.
The speaker touched upon the most relevant issues of today's youth viz 'Distractions and how to overcome them, how to control anger and how to be self motivated.'
The speaker being a young turk was easily able to connect with the students and students too were easily able to relate themselves to his words. #Students were overwhelmed to receive solutions to their issues in an #inspirational way.

RockSat-X Launch: August 17, 2016 | NASA's Wallops Flight Facility
View 1: A NASA Terrier-Improved Malemute with the RockSat-X payload was successfully launched at 7:33 a.m. EDT, Aug. 17, 2016. The payload reached an apogee of 95.29 miles.

Participants included students from eight community colleges and universities from across the United States.

The payload carrying the experiments flew to an altitude of 95 miles. Data was received from most of the student experiments. However, the payload was not recovered as planned. NASA will investigate the anomaly.

The next sounding rocket launch from Wallops is a Black Brant IX currently scheduled for December.

Lake Powell, United States | International Space Station's EarthKAM
Deep blue reservoir lake and desert landscape photographed from orbit | Aug. 16, 2016: The remotely controlled Sally Ride EarthKAM aboard the International Space Station acquired this photograph on July 14, 2016, as the orbiting laboratory flew over Lake Powell and the border of Utah and Arizona. Located on the Colorado River, Lake Powell (annotated image) is the second largest artificial reservoir in the United States.

The EarthKAM program allows students to request photographs of specific Earth features, which are taken by a special camera mounted on the space station when it passes over those features. The images are posted online for the public and students in participating classrooms around the world to view.

Lake Powell is a reservoir on the Colorado River, straddling the border between Utah and Arizona (most of it, along with Rainbow Bridge, is in Utah). It is the second largest man-made reservoir by maximum water capacity in the United States behind Lake Mead, storing 24,322,000 acre feet (3.0001×1010 m3) of water when full. Lake Powell was created by the flooding of Glen Canyon by the Glen Canyon Dam, which also led to the creation of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, a popular summer destination. The reservoir is named for explorer John Wesley Powell, a one-armed American Civil War veteran who explored the river via three wooden boats in 1869.
(Source: Wikipedia)

EarthKAM is the only program providing students with such direct control of an instrument on a spacecraft orbiting Earth, teaching them about environmental science, geography and space communications. The project was initiated by Dr. Sally Ride, America’s first woman in space, in 1995 and called KidSat; the camera flew on five space shuttle flights before moving to the space station on Expedition 1 in 2001.

Sally Ride EarthKAM (Earth Knowledge Acquired by Middle school students) is a NASA educational outreach program that enables students, teachers, and the public to learn about Earth from the unique perspective of space. During Sally Ride EarthKAM missions (periods when the Sally Ride EarthKAM camera is operational), middle school students around the world request images of specific locations on Earth.

The ISS Camera System: www.earthkam.org/about/iss_camera

The project was initiated by Dr. Sally Ride, America’s first woman in space, in 1995 and called KidSat. The KidSat camera flew on three space shuttle flights (STS 76, 81, and 86) to test its feasibility. In 1998, the program was renamed EarthKAM. The EarthKAM camera flew on two more shuttle flights (STS 89 and 99) before moving to the International Space Station (ISS) on Expedition 1 in 2001. Sally Ride died in 2012, and in 2013, NASA renamed the program Sally Ride EarthKAM. The Sally Ride EarthKAM camera remains a permanent payload on the ISS, supporting about four missions annually.
