For all we know, the panels may now be clean from wind blowing off the dust. The biggest concern now is cold. Winter is coming and the cold is a real challenge for electronics.

We've certainly learned to do a lot with a little. To manage power and weight, to use solar power wisely, to operate in very cold environments, and we've made strides with autonomous driving.

There have been a lot of surprises! The fact that we found water everywhere -- hematite blueberries, gypsum far away. We found it everywhere we looked.

The magnitude of dust in the air, the height to which it was lofted and the extended duration of the storm is more than anything we've ever encountered or could have expected. It's unlikely there is anything else we could have done to save Opportunity.

Some instruments have lasted longer than others. The Mössbauer spectrometer had parts that were expected to wear/run out, but the APXS and cameras worked right up to the end.

Take a variety of science and engineering courses. Getting a good breadth of knowledge is a good starting point. Look at images from the rovers and see what interests you, then go deep on the thing that you are most passionate about. Learn as much as you can. Good luck!
