I think this is certainly an issue, too. I think you’d love AO Scott’s new book on criticism, if you haven’t read it already.
I really enjoy great criticism because it helps me better appreciate what I love about a film, or understand why I don’t enjoy a character or a plot element. I get the anger towards bad criticism, which reduces a review to a binary "this is good" or "this is bad" judgement, but the best reviews improve my experience with a work of art.

A pacify or recruit option is a really fascinating idea, especially in the Dark Zone. Having to get people to the Dark Zone exits safely, while they want to turn on you, sounds like a great challenge.
