Starting to look at saleable Jefferson Nickels in my collection.
Which leads me into the morass of examining and counting steps.
For reference, any opinions on how to describe this one?
I can't find any information on this Coach bag. Name, year - and is it real? Measures about 15.5"x12"x6" with a long adjustable strap. Thank you in advance.
I processed 5 UPIs last week and I am getting ready to close them manually and was giving it my best effort to do it without any assistance ... so I followed Ebay's comprehensive step by step instructions as follows:
So when I go to the Resolution Center (screen pic below) I am not able to find the "Have you recieved payment from the Buyer?" mentioned above in the comprehensive step by step eBay instructions ... there is no choice on any pull down menu, or any choice above the item list or anywhere on the page! Over on the right of each listing is a "Take Action" pull down but the only thing there is requesting FVF Credit ... so any assistance on how to close a UPI manually would be greatly appreciated ... and just so you know, I am really (and I mean really) holding my tongue about how horribly lacking eBay instructions are on doing things like this on their site.

Good morning everyone.

Good morning everyone.

I bought an item a while back from another item member who described the dress as being in good condition as it had only been worn once. A week or so later , i decided to sell it on - by this point I hadn worn it , nor tried it on. I cleaned the dress before sending out to the winning bidder as i noticed a few light marks from the previous seller, but this was rectified after I cleaned it.
I received about 3 emails in the space of 5 minutes from the buyer today saying that she took the dress to be dry cleaned and the member at staff at the shop pointed out that dress had been altered - i felt absolutely awful as i thought id made an error but looking back i didnt notice these issues and the pictures she has sent look different from the dress that i purchased from the seller before. I was extremely apologetic and offered to provide a full refund and cover her return fee which is no issue (£3 tracked) I ould sense that she was after a partial refund due to so much emphasis on the fact that i would lose money, she's sent me countless pictures of the accesories she has bought for it, i will copy and paste the messages she sent..
- Wants me to pay for dry cleaning & to fix INSIDE (of the dress which wont be seen) to be re stitched- i know full well it wont cost £20, its a 5 minute cheap job on a machine . the hem is secure its just some loose threads which havent been cut but no she wants drastic maximum intervention
- INITIALLY She said the event was at the end of the month so i offered to take the dress back and have it fixed and cleaned and returned as i have a close friendship with my local tailor - all of this would be done for less than the amount she is asking for but as i predicted, she said no because the wedding is now this saturday ( apparently she made a mistake) and that she has already left the dress with her drycleaner to fix ....
- She's barefoot in the pictires with the dress which makes me laugh becase if the dry cleaners was the one that pointed out the flaws which you had no knowledge of initially, why are now sending me pictures of you with the dress ??? lol I thought it was with the dry cleaners !
I asked her why she had made all these arrangements without consulting me first ! I definitely would have contacted the seller first if it were me ! she said it fits absolotely fine and she LOVES the dress and even showed me pictures of all the accesories she has bought for it ( guilt trip me why dont you) Litereally bombared me with pics and messages dropping HINTS and wanting a partial refund and not a return , I feel SOOOOOOOOOOOO PRESSURED! I dont know what to do, she is making me feel so uncomfortable. She's literally tried to force a partial refund as she CLAIMS she has already made amendments to the dress ...now i have to pay for it.....i dont want to accept a dress which she has made amendaments to without consulting me first, otherwise i would have accepted returm ...HELP
The situation described below is a first for me, so maybe I should count myself lucky. Anyway, here are the details:
I listed an item for one week auction, with an opening bid of $10, plus calculated shipping costs.
The listing receives one bid. Immediately upon close of the auction, I receive an eBay message from the buyer:
"You agreed to my offer of $10 with free shipping. Please send me an invoice for this amount and I will pay the invoice"
I write back to the buyer, stating:
The buyer responds:
"I am an experienced user, see the attached photo". Note that they ignored everything I stated in my first message. The photo attachment appears to be a screen capture from a smartphone app, but since I do not have a smartphone, I am not sure of that. Anyway, the photo shows a message which states "you won the auction, $10 plus free shipping" There is nothing that indicates an item description or item number or user ID.
I figure it is time to call eBay and ask for their advice. I get a phone rep that speaks English (hurray) and they verify that the listing was for $10 plus calculated shipping. The phone rep is able to review the message thread with my buyer, but they are not able to view the photo attachment to the buyer's message (this is a limitation in the phone rep's interface, not a problem with the attachment). The phone rep advises me to contact the buyer and tell them that eBay has verified the listing price as $10 plus shipping.
I contact the buyer a second time, stating that I have contacted eBay and they have verified the listing price. I apologize again for any misunderstanding, and explain again the procedure for requesting a bid cancellation.
The buyer responds:
" I attached the wrong photo". Again, they ignore everything that I wrote in my message. They attach the exact same photo as in their prior message.
I phone eBay again. This time the phone rep is more typical, not a native English speaker. Try explaining the nuances of miscommunication to a non-English speaker, it is impossible. I ask to speak with a supervisor, and the phone rep declines to do this. (I suppose I can try phoning again)
Anyway, as I say in my message header, at this point I am just trying to do damage control. My buyer is either incoherent and/or fraudulent, and has ignored the content of my communications sent to them (as well as the content of the original listing).
I don't care about losing the sale, or the actual item, if need be. I just want to somehow end the transaction with the least amount of damage. Can anyone suggest a strategy to follow from this point going forward? Is there a way to cancel the transaction without the buyer requesting a bid cancellation, that would not result in a seller defect?
I also could just send the buyer the item at their requested price, to minimize my losses. But I do not seem to be dealing with a "normal" buyer. It seems quite possible they would then claim the item was not as described, and I would be out my item, plus shipping, plus negative feedback on top of that.
Thanks for reading my tale of woe. Any suggestions are welcome.
I've been selling jewelry for years -knock on wood, with 100% positive FB. However, six weeks ago an Asian West Coast buyer signed for (USPS signature tracking) an antique pin made of glass that they bought on Feb. 24th and today opened a Paypal dispute claiming it was damaged in shipment.
When they emailed me to tell me about the problem ( it's April now) they sort of danced around 'what do you want to do? do you have a solution?' NOT that they were opening an Ebay case -because its been over 30 days. And not a message that says 'Here is the tracking of the return'. Looking at other negative feedback they have left in the last year for others- it is clear they have done this before. I reached out via message center to both sellers. ". Both sellers also responded to the bad FB they got from this buyer with the same- 'no partial refunds given or wanted to keep item and money'
I have been selling for years and am familiar with the use of quality packing materials. This valuable pin was packaged in a hard, lidded box with jewelry felt/tissue paper, then wrapped outside that box with bubble wrap, then both were placed in a padded mailer. A bike could have ridden over this package and it would have withstood the test. Of course, I never received any photo of damage to the mailer. Only a small section of a broken glass corner of the pin that could have happened anytime in the past 6 weeks. Unbelievably they are now also claiming the item is plastic. Kind of like saying a natural gem is glass.
Whenever I mail anything...I photograph all materials sent JUST IN CASE i would ever have a buyer who claims to have received an empty box or item other than what they purchased. I have uploaded the photos of original packing to Paypal and the USPS signature confirmation.
I am a former Police dept. employee. I don't like the thought of filing an insurance claim on an item that I know was well protected from shipping damage. 6 weeks possession of an antique also seems excessive to wait to file a paypal dispute. Ebay says the item falls outside of 30 days buyer protection but would that mean if Paypal forces a refund, I would not be able to recover the selling fees?
If Paypal forces a refund, I will not be able to continue to sell higher end vintage jewelry items... over the years I had 100% feedback but if there is no seller support it does not make financial sense to sell online. I have seen other jeweler horror stories about buyers changing out stones, stealing watch parts and sending the watch back, it's a real shame.
Someone is going to reply with "that's the cost of doing business" or build the loss into the price of other items. That is just nonsense.
If Ebay allows buyers to return products for a full refund under the money back guarantee, what is the point of even having this option? Does it do anything?
We are long standing ebay members and have 100% feedback. eBay's policies have changed so much over the years that its almost impossible to keep up with them. No longer seller/user friendly at all.
I am a 60+ seller who sells doll clothes for many different dolls. In order to get them under the right category I check out what others use and also go by the name of the artist's or company that makes the doll that I am selling the clothes for. Wouldn't that make sense? In the last month, I have had 3 listings removed without warning stating that they were in wrong category and that I was using manipulation. SERIOUSLY EBAY!!! I called and asked why they don't just notify the seller and give then a chance to change the category instead of waiting until auction is about to close and end up losing all of the interested buyers. I was told that I can relist them under the correct category. Now not only have I lost the interested buyers I had but have to start another listing all over again. It's not like Im making a lot of money here.
When I explained how I find out which category I am suppose to use, she said well they (the other sellers) are listing incorrectly too so their's will eventually be batch eliminated also.
Lovely eBay, instead of acussing sellers of manipulation how about just helping them? Try real customer service.
BEWARE doll clothes sellers, you are about to have your listings removed.
Don't bother calling to complain or ask a question because the so called caring customer service provider reads from a script and just keep rereading it to you no matter what question you ask. The script does start off with "Im sorry___,I understand you are upset". It also ends that way. Yup, they got that one right. ;-)
Lovely eBay. Real customer service. What ever happened to the "old days" when they actually did care and help out their customers?
So, I had been buying items from this one seller for MONTHS, probably spent well over $1,000.00 with them, until one day they decided to send me 3 items i ordered and ALL 3 were damaged/incorrect item purchased. They were leather goods i had been purchasing. I made a transaction for 3 bags, received shipment and ALL 3 of them were damaged. Now mind you, I've dealt with this seller as I said for many months and times before this happened.
Day of receiving said damaged items, i took pictures, sent them to them, explaiing calmly they had send me 1 wrong item, and it was damaged to top it off, and 2 items (which were right, but damaged as well).
The customer support i received afterward was.... terrible to put it lightly. At first they said they knew they were having quality issues with their wholesaler, and had over 400 bad products.. (if you KNOW you have bad products, why are you selling them?)
But they said i could return the items and provided the address.
i went to usps immediately to return the 3 damaged/incorrect items.
Fast forward 6 hours later, and they start flooding my inbox, saying they would send me $100 to my paypal account and i could keep the bags i had ordered. They didn't know yet that i had already shipped the items back to them. I told them, again calm and nicely, that while i appreciated the offer, i had already shipped them all back.
Then it escalated in to them saying they werent going to reimburse the shipping charges, and after calling ebay, because that didnt sound right, ebay confirmed that if a seller sends you defective/misrepresented merchandise, you, as the buyer is entitled to your shipping charges.
Now i had given them all positive feedback in the past for all of the positive transactions i had with them before this, and even after this mess was cleared up (i had to get ebay involved because they were telling me they werent going to give me the correct amount of money back that i was owed), i still never left them negative feedback when i very well could have, like, point out to potential buyerss that they're knowingly selling defective goods, but i haven't.
anyhow, skip to now, after months upon months of business with them, they have wallets that i have purchased and really like. i wanted to get one for my dad for fathers day, and put all of the negative behind us.. even though they sold and treated a repeat customer (me) like total trash when this all happened, only to find out THEY BLOCKED ME.
How is this fair? Just out of curiosity. I realize they have the option, but again, I suppose that's them showing their true colors.
Has anyone else dealt with such a situation???
Curious to hear others inputs..
I purchased what was listed as 14k Gold earrings. I got them, they tested to not be gold at all, just pot metal. The earrings have turned a silverish color after wearing for a month. I opened a SNAD, ebay sided with the seller and closed the case.
I left an appropriate neg and it was promptly removed. All this happened in the course of a couple hours. How did this happen?
I just created a sale for a few of my items by using markdown manager. When I look at my active listings, however, the sale is not reflected. Is there a wait time for them to show up? Is there something that I can do to have them show up sale now, rather than waiting? Thank you!
Okay, so I was selling a pair of pants just recently. A buyer made an offer (it was too low for me so I counter-offered). They messaged me saying that it should really be cheaper because they usually go for cheaper on eBay. So I thought I'd lower the price a little bit, and offer free shipping. Now since that listing already had offers on it, I wasn't allowed to edit the price or the shipping options.
So then, I decided to make a seprate listing with the new price and free shipping. I ended the original listing, told my potencial buyer, and notified them that there was a new listing for the item with free shipping. (If there was a way to reserve the item for them, I would have done it!)
The listing sat there for two hours, and then a DIFFERENT buyer came in and bought the listing, and paid for it.
The first buyer that was originally interested in it and got me to lower it messaged me being very angry that it got bought by someone else. They want me to cancel the order with the new buyer and sell it to them, instead.
I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO.
How do I know that they're actually going to buy it? We didn't have any sort of real aggrement. And there's no reserve feature on eBay...
But maybe I should cancel with the person who bought it and sell it to them?
I'm not sure what's fair in this situation, and would LOVE some advise!
I am new to selling on eBay so bear with me.
I had to void a shipping label because of printing issues, and am still waiting for approval. My quesion is: Should I pay for another label right away and ship the item anyway? Or should I wait for the refund from the first label before paying for another label? I'm not sure what sellers normally do in this situation. Thanks for the help!
My buyer paid $1.64 for shipping. When I went to print the label it was charging me $2.60. Any idea why and how to change that?
So, I bought a jacket from the US which arrived through Parcelforce. I was then sent a letter from Parcelforce telling me the import charges would be another 72 pounds ($100), which I was not ok with and asked them to send it back, which they did. I let the seller know that the item was on it's way back, sent them the Parcelforce tracking number (EH048050315GB) and was told they would be on the look out for the return. I got an automated message from Ebay wondering if I had recieved my refund, I said no and asked them to step in. Within half an hour I get another message from Ebay that initially said I was issued a refund but went on to say the item was not eligible for ebay money back guarantee and that the case was closed...which was strange but I didn't think much of it (see attached photo).
By this point we're 6 weeks in to the whole return process. The tracking update had been stuck on 'exported from the UK' since the 26th of Feb, I asked the seller if he knew anything about it a few days ago - no reply. So I went through my Paypal transactions and found that UPS had picked it up once it got over to the US and had a different tracking number (CF120403275US). Turns out they received it over 2 weeks ago on the 28th of March.
I've told the seller this. Still no contact from them. The number given for appeals is not recognised as I am in the UK. Apparently, the jacket is not covered by Ebay's money back guarantee for whatever reason...
So where exactly do I stand here? Whats the next step?
i received an email from a seller who is claiming to sell their car through eBay motors. The email looks real but I've read there are scams? How do I find out if the seller is real?
Hi i printed a FedEx label ok but i accidently printed 2 of them and ebay charged my account twice and now my next invoice is $70 and when i try to void them i get this error. FedEx labels can't be voided because you aren't charged until the package has been delivered. I can't afford $70 and also my current invoice is $30 with that it will be about $110 i need help.
Thank you for all of the advice I have soaked up on these boards. (and the laughs....)
I received my first offer, it's very low and the listing is new. I'm leaning towards waiting it out but do not want to be rude to the offerer.
How would you handle it? Is no response rude?
Provide gift card number to buyer instead of mailing gift card?
A buyer has messaged me and said that they would like to buy my listed gift card if I will take $1.50 off the price (to eliminate shipping charges) and e-mail them the gift card number instead of my actually mailing the card to them. Should I agree, I, obviously, would wait to send the card number until their payment was in my PayPal account, but I'm wondering if there are any pitfalls to this agreement.
Additionally, if I agree to this deal, I won't have a USPS tracking number to enter into the eBay system, so will that delay the availability of my money in PayPal?
Note: The buyer doesn't have much in the way of FB (12 months = 27 FB), but it is all positive.
After buying many items close together, I've had problems.
First problem, item was damaged.
Second problem (from different seller), wrong item sent.
Both times seller isn't helpful. Currently, I have received no response from the second seller.
A case is open for the first seller...I know I can't open one for the second because the time is too close to the other one (so I've been told).
What am I supposed to do? Just not worry about the second (they sent an item of lesser value)?
I am at a loss...I have no clue what to do! I've been checking ebay like crazy awaiting a response.
Should I leave appropriate feedback for the second? They haven't much feedback...just over 100 or so. How long should I wait for a response first?

'This case was found in your favour.......any feedback left including detailed seller ratings will be removed.......' This was the response from Ebay. This buyer had purchased 2 skirts together in one transaction. Two cases were opened by her one for each skirt. She was fully refunded and got to keep both skirts as a result of one of the cases. The other case remained oustanding though the refund had taken place. I asked for Ebay to step in in the instance of the second skirts return case. I won the case. Ebay has removed one of the neutral feedback. The other neutral feedback is still there. I have reported this buyer with Ebay for feedback extortion which in truth is what this was. Its fair for both neutral feedbacks to be removed. Will Ebay respond to my report and so I can have that second neutral feedback removed? Or what else can I do to follow up on this as regards that second neutral feedback attached to this one transaction?
hi I didn't receive my item but seller not answer me. I 2 april open request ,8 april ask ebay to step in 72 hour finish but not refund my money.what I do??
Hello,
I hope someone can help me out, I am unsure what to do here. On the 8th of April I sold an item. I ship within 2 business days of receiving payment. April the 10th was a Sunday, so said item was going to be shipped first thing in the morning on monday.
However, the buyer changed their mind since they had found my item elsewhere for less. Instead of asking me to cancel the order, buyer opened a Return item request, for an item that had not been send yet and is still in my possession as we speak. Because there is a request open, I cannot cancel the order. I have contacted the buyer both through eBay messages and by direct email asking him to close the return request so I can just cancel his order, but as of yet I have not received any reply.
So - what am I to do now? If I don't cancel the order and just refund him now, will I still have to pay the ebay and paypall fees?
Thanks in advance!
I've tried to cancel it earlier today, it wouldn't let me because it had less than 12 hours left. It won't let me revise the listing to add that the shirt has a hole in it. I've contacted the highest bidder, we have some communication going from another listing, but what if she gets outbid?
Its my my kids old clothes I'm selling.
Thanks for for any advice, I wish I could get eBay to take it down!
Hi glass lovers... Can anyone tell me the name of the pattern of this? and would you consider it a compote, or rather a footed bowl? ... it is clear glass with floral debossed flair rim and the florals are debossed when looking at the underside base as well .... it is about 6.5" tall x 8" across the top. (It has the Westmoreland 'W' in a keystone mark in the center inside part of the bowl) 1910-1929 ..... thanks for any help y'all can give me.
Hi there. I am interested in an auction for which my country is not listed among the accepted OR not accepted shipping zones. I want to ask if the seller can ship to my country. I cannot even ask the question apparently because my country is not listed among the accepted shipping zones (but it is not among the specifically excluded countries either!)
I think there is a good chance the seller will ship to my country (New Zealand), because it is close to (and similar to) another country in the accepted list (Australia)
So I was wondering if anyone out there who has an Ebay account registered in the US, Europe, Canada, Japan or Australia could do me a favor and go to the auction:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/322071297456?rmvSB=true
...and simply ask the seller if 'New Zealand' can be added to the accepted shipping zone. (The auction is for an old Nikon p60 camera) If the seller replies no, that's fine, it's their right. If they reply yes, then Ebay might let me get on and start asking questions, like what the shipping rate is
Thanks in advance,
Martin
I just tried to schedule a pick up with USPS for first class packages. Apparently, first class is now in an "other" selection. My "other" selection is grayed out and I'm not able to select it. USPS customer service had me on hold for 30 minutes then they hung up before I could ask my question and the post office is closed. I'm not a very happy camper right now. Can anyone give me any info on this? Thanks.
Before I donate these I want to make sure they are indeed only pretty. I've looked for the pattern, but the only book I have on cut glass is 1771-1905 and I'm sure it's nothing from that age. They do have mold marks on the bottom and lots of strawmarks and bubbles.. Thanks in advance.
Hi can someone help me identify this vase it is 4-1/4" high
Thanks
I have an ebayer who has been emailing me with a 'best offer' on a consistent basis (3 wks) on an item that i DID NOT have a 'best offer' on. She em'd me a ridiculously low offer and i em'd her NO. She kept up with the same offer, then came up $5. I answered her that i would not take less than $, but she steadily sends me the same offer with a please, just begging me over and over. I blocked her and ignored her em's after i told her no less than $. Is there a way to block her emails?
Good morning everyone.
I have a non responsive "buyer" who has not paid for an item that he has won.
I'm not too much into these unpaid item disputes as they take too long for my patience level.
My question -
IF I use the Cancel order option, can this "buyer"- who has not paid after many days, still be able to leave me Feedback.?
Thanks in advance,
Tom
Do you have to reenter your items to become a store?
What do the little symbols and colors mean that are beside the bidders names in the list?
i have always thought that magazines of all types could be mailed media mail since they are printed matter? and a form of media
If not what makes magazines in eligiable ?
I made a counter offer on an item. I realized that I want to pull the item because it is marked much too low. Is there anything I can do besides learn from my error? Thx, the.radsh
So I bought something on the 4th of April. Handling was 2 days, so it should have shipped Wednesday the 6th. The buyer eventually tells me that he shipped the item on Friday the 8th, and doesn't get me a tracking number until Saturday the 9th. But, the tracking info (Fedex) says that the only thing that has happened was that a shipping label was created, and that Fedex hadn't received the package yet. I message the seller a few times, and eventually on Tuesday, the tracking finally says that Fedex received the package on Tuesday (today) and it now is on it's way in Fedex's system.
The seller tells me that he did drop it off on Friday, but that he went today to the store he dropped it off at, and they told him today they had too many big items last week so it didn't ship last week. This story seems kinda fishy. One, I've never heard of that happening before. Two, EVEN IF IT DID, wouldn't they have shipped it first thing Monday morning, not on Tuesday when he goes back to the store? I've got a lurking suspicion that he printed the shipping label on Friday, gave me the tracking number and never got around to driving it to the Fedex store. Then he finally took it over on Tuesday (today) when I goaded him enough about it.
Is there anything eBay would do in this situation? I paid $75 for shipping, and it was marked as "Expedited shipping" on the auction page. Doesn't seem very expedited to me.
There are a couple of items I was watching but they have ended. Both items had no bids and I was wondering what happens to the items after they have ended but no one bidded on them or bought them.
Hi!
I purchased an item listed as in NEW condition. When I received, 2 of the figures were knocked around and one was broken off the stand. I contaced the seller and they told me to file a claim with USPS. Is that my responsibilty? I feel like as the seller, they should be responsible to file claim. They are the shippers.
So who's responsibility is it?
Thank you!
Hi~
I seem to only be able to access my Purchase History through the beginning of 2014? Is there a way to look back farther than that?
Thank you for any help!

Why is it that placing a bid or clicking buy it now is a binding contract and there are repercussions if payment isn't made, But a seller can cancel a buy it now sale, raise the price and shipping and relist the exact same item that day and that is fine?
A seller just cancelled my order two days after it was paid . It even had tracking #. Anyway...refunded my money and told me she was going to relist as auction and that I could go and bid on it. Really??? The item is no longer in my purchase history. It shows up in canceled orders (I think it is called) so there isn't anywhere for me to leave feedback on this poor transaction. Any advice? Thanks! Dorian
Hello how can I determine if this has metal brass etc under the enamel on this raised cloissone type trinket box size 4". I don't want to scratch it. No makers mark. It weighs 9ozs.
This plate has the badge of the prince of wales on the front, any idea who the backstamp is from?
I print all my labels,so there is generally no problem w/address-today I had an item per usps site undeliverable as addressed and will be returned if appropriate info is available
What is appropriate action o=if it comes back to me?
I bought an item as a guest and need to cancel it. I did not get a guest order receipt even though the amount has already been taken for my card. How do I cancel this item?
Hi,
Sunday 4/10 I selled an item using the shipping ebay tool and I don't understood why usps doesn't pick my item!
I'm trying to call the ebay customer service but is impossible talking with somebody..... No response!!!! How is possible???
Help me please because now it's urgent
After they recd the items I heard only from couple of people giving feedbacks. So now I just started doing like sellers,I buy from they would send me feedback after I recd the items & I send feedback first. Then they would send me right away. So far either way I am not having much luck.So what can I do to get quick response? How am I suppose to build my feedback if people do not respond? How long is customary time to give or receive feedback? Your reply would be appreciated. Thank you.
I'll be quick. Essentially I sold a lego set on ebay for about 400 dollars. I have pictures of it when it was assembled. It sold and then I dissasembled it, packaged it in clear plastic bags, packed it tightly, and send it on its way. I used priority shipping and it reached the buyer in a matter of days. For almost a week he had my set and I even had his payment in my paypal account. Then he randomly requested a return on the item. His details were very vague and he said "the pieces are different" I was dumbfounded and then I looked at the pictures he sent me. Inside the bags in the pictures were just a bunch of junk pieces in bags. I could even notice that one of the bags was not clear, it had a purple tint. It was very obvious to me that he had opened the bags and sorted through the pieces. I did not accept his return logically since I did not want a damaged product sent back to me that had obviously been opened and messed with. I called Ebay today because they told me they could step in. Literally TWENTY MINUTES after I called asking them to step in I recieved an email that ebay had ruled in the buyers favor. I was dumbfounded. I called three more times to customer service who all gave me the same answer-that they could not reverse the decision. I talked with someone from appeals who straight up told me over the phone that there is nothing I could do. I am so incredulous that there are no safeguards against this. the person from ebay also told me that since the buyer had uploaded pictures and I hadnt that was also part of the reason. I did not think to take pictures of the product when it was bags because nobody wants to see it in bags, they want to see it completed. Ebay had ordered the buyer to return the item but I know I will get nothing worthwhile back. The worst part is that He will be automatically refunded when his tracking number shows it delivered to me. IS THIS REALLY HOW EBAY DEALS WITH THIS? IS THERE REALLY NOTHING I CAN DO?
I'm wondering how strict USPS would be with a First Class mailing that is 13.01oz (.01 oz overweight)? I hate to have to charge the customer the 1 lb rate which ends up costing more than what they ordered but worst yet would be having the package returned for insuffecient postage. Does anyone know if there is a flexiblity weight amount? I've trimmed everything possible, including leaving out my business card.
Thanks.
I made a typo and need to retract a bid, where is the link? thankyou
Hi. I have seen this happen several times especially with Apple products. Let me explain shortly what I am on about and give you a fresh example:
Seller is listing a damaged MacBook, its like several days till end of auction. I sent my bid and wait for the auction, at the moment I was the only bidder. What happens next day (today): I received the notification that auction is canceled because of the error in the listing. And then 10 minutes later the SAME listing without any changes in the description is posted again now with only by-now option $400 and sold immeditelly. There is absolutelly no difference in the text, so there was no error in the listing, it was only because someone sent a seller a buy now offer and he just cancelled my bid and relisted it for that person to get it.
Now it might be not a big deal after all I did not lose anything and there is no guarantee that I would win it but it is just getting on nerves, and it is against eBay practices (its clearly explained here ), I just think it is unfair and it should be stopped. It would be just fair that sellers like this would be marked by eBay like negative feedback or even got banned from eBay. And buyers possibly too because some of them here think that rules do not apply to them.
Just frustrated, and if someone can do something about it or let me know how to report this to eBay I would appreciate it. I just think it is fair to stop practices like this.
Sincerely,
Neal
Hi everybody,
When buying and/or selling on eBay, the journey has several touchpoints:
At what point in that journey through the eBay ecosystem has ownership of the item been transfered from the seller to the buyer? It is clear the steps at the end can be excluded but where in the middle is it happening? I was looking for an answer to the above question in Index of Policies (http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/index.html) and couldn;t find anything. Since I may have overlooked it, I thought to throw it out to the Community.
Thanks everybody for any input!
I've tried adjusting all the categories possible... weight, dimensions, etc ... Two weeks ago the Shipping Calculator was correctly calculating USPS Large Envelope rate of 98 cents for less than 1 ounce plus $1 handling for a total of $1.98. Then a few days ago, it messed up and now all my items are saying it costs $1.94 instead of $1.98 and adjusting the categories doesn't fix it. What happened. First it was correct and now its not???
I leave feedback for sellers as soon as I get the item. I've had to wait on them to leave me feedback for a month or better. Why is that?
I've been trying to find the correct place to report this, but no where seems to fit. I recently bid on an item using the mobile app, and believed that the item included free shipping. After winning the item, I tried to pay using a desktop and a shipping fee was included. The seller did not edit the auction, and viewing the item on a desktop clearly shows the shipping cost. However, I can still view the innacturate information if I look at the item using my phone. It says in more than one place that the item has free shipping, but it also lists the shipping cost in another place (which I didn't notice when I initially bid). I believe this may be an issue with the mobile app site rather than a seller issue, but I don't know for certain. How do I report this?

Edit: I already paid the seller prior to posting this!
Hello. I set up an eBay store recently and was wondering if a successful/experienced seller could look at my store and tell me what's good, what's bad, any advice is appreciated! Thank you!!
only.prettier <-- seller name
I wanted to see if my labels were still coming out TINY so I clicked on "PRINT SAMPLE LABEL" I have my sample but now I have a tracking number, I can't print a REAL label without buying a NEW one. Any help would be appreciated, but no "GUESSES" PLEASE.
We have heavy and difficult to pack items for selling. These items are stored in bulk in a local warehouse, not a store. We would want the buyers pick up items and transport themselves from our warehouse. Some are pallet loads. Does Ebay platform provide for such transactions?
Greatly appreciate any help.

Hi can someone help me identify this pattern?
Thanks
Edit: Never mind, we've decided to move forward as is apparently. Thank you for your answers.
I have a figurine of a little girl throwing a ball. She is 5" tall with a pink striped skirt and a red bow in her blond hair. There is a Napco sticker on the bottom and a stamp in black that reads S287B ?? The reason I am asking help is that I found another one of these on google and eBay that are the same but different makers. Is this a copy of another or did someone just put the wrong sticker on or ....?
Thank you,
Teresa
Can anyone help to identify/value this crock? I want to drill holes in bottom and make it a planter, but not if it's valuable.
Hi there,
Stuck on this pattern and maker. Olive or Avocado green pressed glass. Not sure what it is - covered sugar bowl or candy jar or something else.
Any help is much appreciated.
TIA
Kathy
Hi everyone - I am trying to reply to feeback left on my feedback, I get to the page where is allows me to type in my reply, I hit enter, and I get a error message which says, "No Feedback, You Cannot Reply To Feedback When You Do Not Have Any" So it is basically saying the feedback I am trying to respond to does not exisit. Any ideas? I checked to see if maybe a return was opened but nothing is showing up, any ideas? Maybe just try later?
Can I receive negative feedback for cancelling a 'best offer' on a buy it now item?
The only reason I'd do this is when the seller sits on the offer and I want to buy from someone else.
Hey all. I sent an item from Maryland (me) to Mexico. The USPS employee told me I needed to use the smaller customs form. I did and now there's no tracking information coming up at all. I used to be able to at least see if the item was shipped out of the US. The buyer is now accusing me of just scanning a customs form and not shipping the item at all. Am I going to be made to refund the item if this person opens a case? I have the receipt that shows I did send it. Please help!
After my non-paying bidder case closed, the item disappeared and I can't find it to relist it. I could just re-create the listing from scratch but it would save time to be able to relist it but...where did the listing go?!!! Thanks!
Hi,
She wants to ship using her own acct (I guess they get a discount). The item is pretty heavy at 11 lbs. and this is a first for me. I wrote the buyer explaining I would have to find out. Would this negate any seller protection afforded me? I'm thinking it will, since I won't be able to prove delivered, etc.. Any suggestions on what can be done or do I simply let them know that this against ebay policy.
Thanks.
PS. As I write this, she messaged me that she could e-mail label and schedule pick up. She works for UPS. Can I upload the tracking number on label to ebay for my protection? Is that possible?
I'm new to this, but by my math, one complaint out of 115 sale, is much better than 98.2% . I'm not new to ebay per say, but I'm am relatively new to caring about my rating. haha. Maybe someone here can explain.
Is there a way to see the complete original listing of items sold? I know I can see most information in My Ebay/Summary/Sold, but I can't see the Buy-It Now price that I had listed or the length of the auction.
Thanks.
I have been around eBay for a while now, and know some of you have been around even longer, and probably remember even more than I do. Here are just a few things I remember:
I remember eBay before the days of PayPal. Buyers would send personal checks, money orders and sometimes cash in the mail for items. There was another payment service eBay had in place prior to PayPal, where people could use credit or debit cards, but I don't recall the name of it.
I also remember a bare bones eBay with very little advertising, if any at all, and certainly no sponsored links on your listings. In fact, if you had your own website, you were not allowed to advertise it within your item description, but you could provide a link to it in your 'About Me' page.
I remember eBay listings with no photos at all. In fact, the first 100 or so listings I put up on eBay contained no photos. I simply described my items in great detail using nothing more than test, and sold a decent percentage of them that way. But at some point, I broke down and bought my first digital camera . . . on eBay. After all, a picture is worth 1000 words they say.
And speaking of pictures, I remember the tiny horrible photos that some sellers would put up there. Some of the photos were so bad that you really couldn't see the items very well at all, and I think it was done intentionally by some sellers to conceal the imperfections. And of course, over time, eBay saw the advantage of allowing larger and larger photos. And in the earlier days, only the first photo was free. We had to pay extra fees to post extra photos. I can't remember exactly, but it may have been an extra 15 cents for each extra photo. And back then we could only add six photos - not twelve.
I also remember the days where you could contact via email any member of eBay - both buyers and sellers alike. When someone left feedback, their email address was posted on the feedback page. As a buyer, I remember communicating with other buyers at times.
And of course, there were the days where sellers could, and did leave negative feedback for buyers. I remember seeing buyers with -3 feedback scores. Some of us are quick to cringe when we see a zero bidding on one of our items. How would you feel if the bidder on your item was a negative 3? Back then eBay would suspend those buyer accounts if they were nothing but negative.
Over time, much has changed on eBay. Some of the changes may have been for the better, and perhaps some of the changes may have been ill advised, but all of that may be for the most part, matters of opinion.
So all you eBay old timers, what are the things you remember that I may have missed?
