Weekly Writing Challenges: Microprose
Welcome! You’ve found YeahWrite’s microprose challenge. From 2014-2016 this challenge ran as a weekly prompted 42-word story and poetry challenge. Starting in 2017, the challenge features prose only with unique prompts and word counts and runs once per month on Wednesdays. Keep an eye on our Sunday kickoff post to find out if the microprose challenge is running this week.
On weeks the challenge runs, our Wednesday evening voting post will give you the opportunity to participate in the popular vote on the microprose as well as the nonfiction and fiction|poetry grids. We announce popular vote winners and editorial staff picks on Fridays, so make sure to stick around all week.
Still not sure how to participate? Hop over to our guide for new participants. See you on the grid!

Read Me? I've been doublechecking class handouts for Deconstructing Prompts all week. Like PowerPoint presentations, handouts should have enough information that a student doesn't have to take detailed notes, but not so much that the class doesn't add nuance to their...

Hot Air I just put air in my left rear tire for the second time in two weeks. I have a feeling that in two more weeks, I'll confirm I have a slow leak that needs addressing, especially since usually when the air pressure warning illuminates, it's because it's cold...

I'm Baaaaack I'm back from ten days in California Wine Country and boy was that a much-needed break! Great wine, exceptional food, beautiful scenery; everything was amazing there, as usual. Also, I was barely online at all, which was just what I needed. And now I'm...
