A copay (short for copayment) is a fixed dollar amount that you pay every time you receive medical care.
A deductible is a fixed dollar amount that you need to pay within a defined period of time (such as one calendar or plan year) before your insurer will start to cover some of the costs for covered medical services.
Coinsurance is another way you may be required to share costs with your insurance provider.
If you receive an unexpected bill, which could be what’s referred to as a "surprise bill," for a service from a provider or facility that you did not know is not covered by your insurance plan, you can dispute the bill.

No. A verification does not impact your credit score, credit history or credit report.
If you are an existing Northwell Health patient, have created an account and are logged into it, you may see a 'Verify now' button like the one below. Just click the Verify now button to get started.
Once you do so, you will need to answer a few questions that only you will know the answer to.
If you are a patient and you do not see the verify banner, it could be because the information you've put in your account profile does not match the information in your Northwell patient profile. Double check that the information in your profile is correct. If it is not, you can edit your profile and enter the corrected information. If the information is correct and you still aren't seeing the Verify now button, please call (888) 321-DOCS and we will help you.
You must be 18 years old or older, though we are considering support for younger patients in the future.

We are sorry that we can’t verify your identity. There are a number of reasons this may be happening. They range from a freeze on your credit report to too many unsuccessful attempts to verify.
We want to ensure that you have a secure experience. We ask you to verify your identity (also known as proofing) so that we can make sure you are who you say you are. If you're an existing patient, verifying your identity will allow us to link your profile to your existing billing and medical information in our system.
We know that the information in legal documents like your driver’s license or passport may not be the same as what you prefer to be called in your day-to-day conversations. By sharing these preferences with us, we can make sure that we're communicating with you in a way that is comfortable and familiar.
Creating an account makes it possible for you to view your payment history and to pay your bills without having to have your bill on hand.
