Christmas Stocking and Winter Mitten Boxes

Hello!  I always love it when Pion Design creates a pastel Christmas collection!  The vintage children and colors in the Winter Wonderland collection are soft and wonderful.  This year, I decided that Christmas stockings don’t have to made from fabric to be memorable.  Instead, I decided to make keepsake Christmas stockings from this special collection.  For this project, I cut out two 9.5 inch height stockings from Pion Design Palette, covered them with papers from the collection, and then made an open rectangular box to place in between them.  The box was also made from the sturdy Pion Design Palette and was designed to hold Christmas treats and treasures.  You can find these projects on the Dec. 13  PIon Design blog here.

Here is another project where I cut out two mitten patterns, and then placed a rectangular open-top box in between them made from Pion Design Palette to hold treats.  The mittens measure about 8 inches in height. I love the pastel theme for this Christmas collection!

Enjoy the holiday season!

Christmas Projects

Hello!  Once again Christmas is almost here.  Pion Design released two new Christmas paper collections and I am posting projects today made from both collections.  Although the traditional red and green collection of Let’s Be Jolly is awesome, I always love their soft pastel Christmas collections the best, and this year, Winter Wonderland is so lovely.  The first project was posted today here on the Pion Design blog. It is an altered metal letter box. I thought it would be fun to store and save holiday cards my family received in this box. It’s covered with Winter Wonderland papers and the frosty effect is from lots of smeared on Snow-Tex.

I made this little Christmas ornament from a sheet of blue paper from the Winter Wonderland collection.

The next project consists of three handmade boxes covered with Winter Wonderland and Let’s Be Jolly papers and can be found on the Pion Design blog here

Each of these handmade boxes contain six Christmas cards and matching envelopes.  I thought the boxes filled with cards would make great gifts for special people.

Each box has a removable Christmas ornament on top nestled in place by flowers!  How special is that!

The cards (as well as the box die cuts) were made from Spellbinders “Shapeabilities Annabelle’s Trousseau Layering Frame Medium Etched Dies Chantilly Paper Lace Collection.”

The vintage images from the Winter Wonderland collection match beautifully with both pastel pink and pastel blue cardstock as a base.

This dainty ceramic Christmas ornament was purchased at Hobby Lobby.

Let’s Be Jolly collection has the traditional reds and greens of Christmas.  The collection has great vintage images!

Best wishes for all to have a wonderful holiday season!

Altered Letter Boxes

Hobby Lobby has many items that turn into fun crafting projects for me, such as this stack of metal letter boxes.  I bought this when they had a 50% off sale on all of their metal items and then transformed it into a beach-themed letter box with Pion Design’s Seaside Stories collection.  The entire metal project was large, at about 2 feet tall so I’ve included photos of each individual metal box to show finer details of the paper and decorations.

I am far from the ocean here in Oklahoma, but I currently live on a beautiful lake and so like to consider this project as a “lake home” project.  This project can also be found on the Pion Design Blog here.
Best wishes for a wonderful summer!
