    Yes. Single threaded in that we R not wired 2 fully attend 2 more than 1 spoken stream at a time; however, much- neglected (in UX Design) non-speech audio employs different part of cortex, enabling parallel audio threads of different modalities. Still lots of potential to tap!

    Compare to physical inputs, which can easily be "multi-threaded": using a game controller with both hands; driving a car with both hands and feet. (Perhaps someday we can encode the spoken word to have dual purpose, but The Clapper of the 1980s indicates no. We'll see.)

    I often refer to voice & audio modalities as being time-bound. points out voice input is "single-threaded", which is an elegant metaphor to express both the time limitation and encapsulate many others.

    Finished 's excellent "When," then, on his recommendation, read 's "Internal Time" on the flight home. It's all about chronotypes, and it was truly eye-opening. I've long known people have different rhythms and that it's better to work with them...
