    The UK is illegally detaining people who have claimed refugee or asylum status. This us the moral equivalent of Australia’s ghastly practice. We don’t offshore them on remote islands but we lock then up in terrible detention centres. No difference

    Do read this excellent thread- one family’s story of how they became refugees

    She paused for a moment. I could tell the story was painful. After a minute, she spoke and talked about how stubborn her and my dad were. They remained at home until the very last minute - they didn't think war would come to their doorstep. No refugee does.

    Not only is my guest a wonderful cook, he presents stuff beautifully. And he’s clever too- he’s just been offered a place to do a masters!! Scholarship applications are the next hurdle....
