There is a Passover song, “Zog, Maran”, which is structured as a conversation between an Ashkenazi Jew and a Sephardi Jew celebrating under the fear of persecution and murder. It ends: “And what if your foe should find you?” “Then we will die singing”

A weird thing happened today; I got an email from someone wanting to know why there's a chapter of my most popular HP fic missing from Fiction Alley, the HP fanfic archive. And I'd completely forgotten about this. This missing chapter is a relic from a CRAZY BYGONE FANDOM ERA.

Because I was a child when it started, I just started watching 90210 for the first time and I’m baffled that AO3 only has ONE Brandon Walsh/Dylan McKay story. Baffled, I say! What even are you, Internet?

Vicki Boykis's experience with leaving Facebook resonates with my own, especially the part where you don't miss the noise but you do miss out on parent groups and local family events.

This kind of gender bias in grant proposal reviewing makes me incredibly angry, especially given the second tweet in the thread (more specific proposals produce better research).

Hello Internet, + + is a strong move in the direction of a dream writer's room imo... Go ahead and ask me who's missing, tho.

I love Veronica Mars very deeply but that it has been revived TWICE before Terriers has been revived even ONCE is not, strictly speaking, just.

    28. Owning things is fine. Wanting to own things is fine. Feeling an inherent worth in owning things is fine. Don't let the current Cult of Minimalism make you feel bad if you want to own things.

    25. (This is a hard-fought and newly won hottake) It doesn't matter how much time/money/spoons/resources you've invested in something: if it's not making you happy then you should consider not doing it.

    24. Back on reading: reading books isn't better than reading magazines. Let people read what they want.

    19. On the subject of books: ebooks aren't 'lesser reading' to print books. It's exactly the same. And actually, are *more accessible* because they're usually cheaper and because one can make the font/background/etc as they need it to read comfortably.
