Earth from Space: Gaza Strip and parts of Israel
In this composite image you can see the Gaza Strip, State of Palestine and parts of Israel and Egypt, imaged by the Operational Land Imager (OLI) aboard Landsat 8. The images were taken September 19th, 2015 at 8:17am GMT.
Gaza Strip
Clearly visible in this image is the Gaza Strip, State of Palestine, and its border with Israel and the smaller border with Egypt to the south. The border is especially visible because of the depopulated buffer zone (https://goo.gl/MNTfpQ). The Gaza Strip is about 41 kilometers (25 miles) long, 6 to 12 kilometers (3.7 to 7.5 miles) wide and has a total area of 365 square kilometers (141 square miles). It has a population of about 1.8 million people and a high population density of 5,046 people per square kilometer (13,069/square mile).
North of the Gaza Strip you can see the cities of Ashkelon (https://goo.gl/ne95dy) and Ashod (https://goo.gl/r876vR) in Israel. To the east you can see the Mediterranean Sea (https://goo.gl/ol0CX).

Technical Data
For those interested, here the technical data for this image. The image is a combination of a pansharpened OLI Band 4-3-2 (natural color) image with an OLI Band 7-5-1 (SWIR, NIR) image to get more colors and distinction for vegetation. The resulting colors are near natural but slightly oversaturated and contrast is slightly enhanced. Image scale is 37.5 meters/pixel.

Via Gaza strip nurse who worked in the ER during the latest attack on Gaza, Operation Protective Edge, Amgad:
"Today is the 6th anniversary of the war on the #GazaStrip, December 27, 2008.
On this day, Israel launched Operation Cast Lead, a massive 22 Day military assault.
The surprise attack began at 11:30 am. Israeli F-16 fighter jets started striking 100 locations across the tiny strip at the same time.
White phosphorous bombs burned our skin through and through until we died.
1419 killed, most of them civilians, and more than 5000 injuries.
Many houses and schools and mosques destroyed, and inside, entire families massacred to make room for settler homes.
This war will remain in our memories until we die, and it makes us sick and injures us mentally for years.
Really it's difficult and horrible that they attack us again recently, the innocent civilians who just want to live in peace."
