Shannon Nunn: Elizabeth, my family just read your book, and you mentioned me in it. I like how you falsified everything about my conversation with Eustace. I never told him I grew up on a ranch, that I was a mechanic, or that I was a farmer. My father was a hunter and a trapper and he supported our family from the land, he didn't depend on the efforts of others to sustain his way of living like Eustace did.
He told me that he would teach me the skills I was looking for and he reneged after I drove his truck across the country. You falsified that information in your book as well.
I also liked the fact that you made it sound like I left. I didn't leave after a week, I lived in a leaf hut for a year and was taught by Nathan Roarke. You made me sound like a wimp and a quitter. I was never any of those things or a sucker. I lived my passions and learned what I went to learn from someone willing to trade work for knowledge. Ask Nathan what happened.
I don't expect a retraction but you need to get your facts straight. What you overheard on the phone is not what happened, what was said or anything that resembles the truth of the situation.
I left because he promised to teach me the skills I wanted to learn over the phone in exchange for working on his land. He changed his promises once I arrived and delivered his ranch truck that I drove at my own expense across the country. I wasn't a mechanic before but I learned after I drove that piece of crap. It cost me more in new parts and gas than it was even worth. He didn't care what I did because he already got everything out of the deal he wanted. He broke his word, and where I come from your word is worth more than all the money in the world. He never tried to convince me that I would only be a free laborer.
He had people leave because they were not stupid. He uses people, that is the truth of it and it was apparent to most people except you according to your accounts.

Paromita Bardoloi: Finally the review to Elizabeth Gilbert's 'The Signature of All Things." It is so exquisitely written that it makes it almost seductive. Who would have guessed that such a brilliant story could be written out of a bryologist (one who studies mosses). Don't forget to buy the book. It releases this 1st of October.
