Data is absolutely mainstream today, not only among analysts and engineers, but also across industries and professions. But some people hang on statistics without understanding the context, which is the single most important piece of information in any analysis. This leads to decisions based on numbers alone, which can be dangerous; as Henry Clay Sr. said: "Statistics are no substitute for judgement"

It was really interesting to analyze data from the UK Office for National Statistics to understand trends in marriages and divorces over the last 150 years. Here are the questions I asked:

It was heartbreaking to hear the news that Hans Rosling had passed.
He richly deserved his fame connected to data, visualization, simple storytelling, and more. [See: https://goo.gl/Tx9Fhw]
But what I appreciated most of all was his deep caring about the state of the world and his passion to improve human lives in all corners of the world. I felt they were the higher order bits that drove him in the incredible work that he did.
I'll retain very fond recollections of my interactions with him. His work sets unattainable standards for the rest of us, it is also the inspiration for me to do better every single day.
