It was a great app last year, but for some reason they decided to add a subscription to be able to learn and teach more than 1 language. Before you just had to buy the app once. Also, please stop with the HT community, or at least give me the means to block those posts out. I would ask for the ability to have more than only one native language. Now I have to say that I'm native in French and proficient in Dutch, but I would like to be able to be native in both, since being just "proficient" kind of downplays my abilities in Dutch... Thank you very much for making this application, though ! 助かりました！

Even with an unpaid account, it's such a valuable resource for language learning. I've only been using it for a week or so and have already made friends with a native Japanese speaker over our mutual love of Okuyasu from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. You can passively observe foreign languages being spoken to try and pick up proper grammar or have a go at posting something and learning from the corrections. You can also assume the role of the teacher so the experience is mutually beneficial for everybody. It's a brilliant app. Can't recommend it enough.

really good app when you're learning a language! i always felt like talking to natives in a language you wanted to learn is the best way to learn it, and in connection with other language learning apps like duolingo or others, this is a really handy combo and i can only recommend it. the only downside is that it still has a few bugs but those don't majorly affect you much.

This app is really helpful with learning new languages! I just wish for the favorites there's a page to look at and review from them. It's also hard to scroll up previous conversations when there's words you missed that you want to review but has been alllllll the way back in the very beginning. Please make a tweak of this! It would be REALLY helpful. Also I appreciate the strict security. It can get creepy if when there's perverts...

Easy to use. Great way to learn a language from others. Paid version isn't fully worth it honestly. It removes ads and allows you to go back further in conversations with people along with a few other minor features that I didn't see much use for. Great app tho, wish I could run it from my computer tho.

I like the app a lot. I wish I could do it on my laptop so typing and audio would be better. It is frustrating trying to type in Spanish as autocorrect always tries to change it to English. However, I love the opportunity to be able to converse both orally and in writing with Native speakers. That is an awesome way to increase ones skills in Target language.

Only VIP members can learn multiple languages. You can change learning language once every 2 days. Sorry for making you feel bad. edit 2017/06/16 : everything is good, fast respond and user friendly customer service, recommended ! five star ! 2017/06/09 : almost perfect apply, but it still has many problem here's my problems on this apply ; 1. i cannot change my "about" 2. it has a connection bug, it takes forever to load a page even though i have a fast internet speed 3. the developer team/customer service never reply me to suggest what should i do to solve this proble 4. if your CS do not reply this claim, it's prove that you have a bad customer services, and i will uninstall it soon if you do not solve this problem ASAP, thankyou^^

Whoever made this, man, you are great, amazing! I just love it! I could never have imagined in my life that I could get help from native French & English speakers! I was helpless, hopeless at a time. Finally I found this app, it's superb, man! I'm just a student now, when I'll get a job, I'll subscribe to get more cool options here... I'm thinking about like..telling u...that...IT'S THE BEST APP I EVER HAD EXPERIENCED in my life, man!... Brilliant brilliant job! This is a great app, but like all other messaging apps where you are texting strangers, you just need to be careful. Never give information about yourself where stalkers could find you on social media or something. I didn't have trouble, but you never know. But this is the best app I've found for this kind of thing.
Not as good as you think but even BETTER. Awesome app and yeh it has some issues but it is Extremely helpful anyway. I'm learning korean and it both gives me an opportunity to practice, but also makes me closer to the culture as well.. really honestly in love with HelloTalk. Recommend it to everyone out there learning a foreign language :3
This is such a great app. It's amazing to be able to meet new friends around the world; however, I have been using this app for about a year now and this bug has still yet to be solved. Scrolling through the feed page it often does not load at all. Or it will only load the first two posts and won't allow me to scroll any more. It is very frustrating and it would be nice if it were finally fixed. Thanks.

This is a great app with extremely friendly people that help you practice your target language. My only complaint is that I'm not notified of new messages about 50% of the time. Even if I open the app I have to wait about 10 seconds before I'm positive I have no new messages.

I tried to explain my situation and what had happened, then they said no it didn't happen that way. I wasted money on a subscription fee that they gave to another person and said it wasn't their fault. I was trying to point out a possible bug and they ignored the issue and responded I was lying. I was willing to reapply for a subscription fee if they had worked with me on the situation instead of calling me liar. I know bugs and errors happen.

Amazing app! I really wish there was a dark mode for nighttime viewing. Often audio notifications do not work on my S5, but it seems the new update has fixed it. I love how easy it is to communicate with the people who speak the language you are wanting to learn.
I have used HelloTalk for more than a year now, when I first found out about it, it was really great! The format and the system was simple, I helped some people and they really helped me. They were focused on language learning and culture back then. I think the new social media made HelloTalk less about learning language. Yes, it was intended for people to post about languages and culture, but it just opened another way for people to go use this former great app for selfies, party pictures and relationships

Thanks for your cooperation. I love this app! However, I have been having some issues with the translation. Whenever I try to translate something, the words I type won't show up. So I must close the app several times for it to work. I am only having this issue on my Galaxy S6
BUT why it won't allow another account from same device? I have to delete this account for some reasons and I am very sad to know that I won't be able to come back with another. That's the huge drawback and something I would like you to consider. Overall, it was nice experience here. I'm really upset.

And nowadays whenever i try to post anything in moments then it doesn't Post properly.. In fact i can see my post, but others can't see my post.. If they especially Open my profile then they can see my post in moments.. But why does it not post in moments as it was being done reliably.. So sort it out my problem as soon as possible !!

I hate that every time the app opens it has to spend 5-15 seconds of my life receiving messages and notifications are hit and miss. If they fixed those issues and had a smoother experience it could easily be a 5.

Compared to other language learning apps HelloTalk is awesome no need to pay a monthly subscription, (if you plan on using it a lot) the app pays itself off with all the amazing people on here willing to help you study! Compared to other Online Language Learning Resources (OLLR) which continually demand a subscription to use all their features. I Love it😃
The app itself is great, easy to use, intuitive, and simple. I have had no problem with it from that standpoint. What I would count as a downside however is that English is not my native language, and I felt it would be unfair if I pretended as if it were, but because of that, I can only meet a handfull (around 10) people with which I can practice Korean, and even some of them haven't been online for days. I was excited when I heard that people received so many messages, but I just didn't experience any of that. I know it could probably be solved easily by changing my native language to English or purchasing a premium membership, but neither is a valid option for me, either I'd feel as if I were deceiving people from the start, or I'm just not ready to pay for it. Nevertheless, I do not see this as a technical problem with the app itself, only a personal one, so I rated it 5 stars.
This app has changed my daily life. :) I've made real friends in Korea and Canada and I'm feeling good about travelling there. I also noticed the video chats are very stable. :) That being said, I'm a bit sad that several features now, like video chats and the ability to search for people who want to learn another language then the one you're teaching/learning, are only for paying users.

Switch the language you want to learn through that free, and search native speakers of the language you learn through that. Thanks. It's great! I've met some nice people, and are studying Japanese. One problem is that I have subscribed and paid for the monthly plan, but I cannot use it. If fixed, I will give 5 stars. Thanks!

Thanks for your cooperation. I gave 3 stars after the update. The first problem is, the "Moments" timeline doesn't stop loading even with a stable internet connection. Super slow to get a respon in moments. The second problem is of course the notification part. I can't get a notification either for a new message or for comments/like in my moments. The final problem is, I can't edit what I've write in moments. So whenever I realize that I made a mistake in my writing, I have to copy all the sentence and then delete the old one and write the new one with all the revision. This is really suck. Anyway, I love the overall concept. That's why, please fix those two problems :) . Many thanks!

We will look into your problem and help you get it resolved. We appreciate your advice and will take into account for future update. Great features but very buggy and very slow. Doesn't notify when a message fails sending and doesn't automatically retry, so I find that someone didn't see my text for many hours. Chat logs can take entire minutes to refresh and show newest messages.

Nice app to look for language exchange opportunities. I particularly like the app's Pinyin-showing feature, which is extremely helpful when you learn Chinese. The only weak point is that the app is quite slow and memory-demanding.

I just wish chat messages were stored locally on my phone rather than on their servers which makes looking through a chat history really slow. Also, sometimes you will receive a notification for new messages but when you open the app, it takes like half a minute for them to actually show up.
It's sad to see that only men talked to me. It's ok if they do it to get a friend, but not if they're looking for something else and say "got hard" just for seeing a simple and plain photo.

Warning -> suspension -> removal I used to love this app and rated it 5 stars. But after the recent update, it takes so long just to load my conversation and moments, even though there isn't a problem with my internet connection. Please fix this problem! It makes communicating with the people I'm chatting with so difficult when I have to wait for the app to load everytime they reply.

It is a good app, but I hate it that the pictures sent or received will be expired, and people cannot change their native language (like me, I can speak English and Indonesian, but when I am choosing Engish as my native language, I am stuck with this and cannot change to Indonesian in the future). I think you must give an option to change native language. And lastly, there should be an option to edit posted moments, I am sure it will be very helpful, especially when we do a mistake or typo in the momen we have posted.

To preserve the safety of our language learning community and limit abuse, age/gender/country of origin/native language cannot be modified. If you made a mistake, please advise your real age/gender/country origin/native language by sending messages to HelloTalk Team within the app and we’ll make the necessary changes. It's a great app. I've been using it since 2014. But, recently it keeps taking a long time to load even though I know my wifi is fast. I think it's an internal issue. Can you fix it?

This app has helped to accelerate my learning in the past but since their newest update connecting to the app is a nightmare. It refuses to stay connected and the only way to fix it is to force close and reopen constantly. Will change feview back to 5 stars after these issues have been resolved hopefully in their next update.

I love the app but there seems to be something buggy with it? I can only manage to scroll to the 3rd post in moment and then it doesn't show nor can i scroll down any further. Could you enlighten me on this?
