All fundamental capabilities and relatively clean UI. The UI could do with some refinement and follow design standards. Library management is minimal, e.g. doesn't automatically pickup books added to root folder and no cloud import options. Had to stop using it because every time an audio notification occurred (e.g. Waze or txt) then playback would stutter until the app was restarted.

Very Impressive This app does everything you will want from an audiobook player with no ads and only asks for permission to access your device's storage. My only request would be for the 10 second rewind function to jump to the preceeding audio file in the play list. Currently the function stops at the beginning of the current file. However, everything else appears to be topnotch.

Clean UI, Ad free, Easy to use, Supports M4b chapterized files. All that is needed for an Audio book player. However, the player stutters at Multi-tasking, jumps back to Beginning of the chapter upon taking a picture or use of some other app. Could have been great if it offers a good widget and closes even though I clear it. From the stack of running applications. I would go back and rate it 5 stars of these things are fixed ASAP.

Very nice, clean app. I would request that the sleep function stay enabled instead of turning off after 1 use, so you don't have to go into the app and re-enabale it after pressing play again. If I'm listening to a book at night, I don't want to open a bright app to re-turn on the sleep fiction. I'd rather it play again for the selected sleep time. Other apps have a shake function that plays the audio without having to even wake your phone. But the other apps aren't as pretty as this one! Also smaller tiles or the ability to make them smaller would be great. Displaying more than 2 books across would make searching faster or the option for a list view. I'd definitely pay for it with those 2 tweaks.

After fixing many annoying things thr app has become really praiseworthy. Audio books show all the chapters. It has material design (It can be much better but that's fine for now). Devs if you are reading my comment, please add the dark mode/UI cause I tend to listen to audiobooks before I go to bed!

Got it to work, However I did not realise I could swipe up from the random book it selects to choose other books, thank you for this app but I was a bit confused as to how to pick a book. I would prefer if it showed all your book covers in a library. 5 Stars because the developers are really cool 😎

Hi,
This will be fixed in the v1.4.1 release :)
Br,
Audiobook Player Team Got it to work, However I did not realise I could swipe up from the random book it selects to choose other books, thank you for this app but I was a bit confused as to how to pick a book. I would prefer if it showed all your book covers in a library. 5 Stars because the developers are really cool 😎
This is an idea audiobook player, especially for m4b files. No ads (as of today) and no dig for a premium version. Even allows X2 speed for speed reading. In short you will not find a better player out there. Just make sure you have a separate directory for your books, or it will pickup every mp3 on your phone as your library.
Potential to be the Best Free with no ads. Variable playback speed, skip ahead or back buttons. Easily set audiobook root folder. Bookmarks, snooze, spot saver, etc. Improvements: remove hideous button sound from play/pause. Display chapter time lengths. Add audio equalizer.
Great app, just what I was looking for to listen to mp3 books. You can step back or forwards by 5, 10, 15 or 30 seconds. Sleep timer. Small con - doesn't want to go back to a previous chapter. Don't know why. But if you refresh the library all is OK.
The sleep timer doesn't work as it should. Whatever I set it to, doesn't end the session properly. It will stop, then it resumes within a few seconds. I want it to stop after the timer "stops" it. I have to physically either click the button on my ear buds or in the app itself.
I love this app for my audio books! It's the only one I've found that actually keeps my place in the book. None of the others ever did! I love it! It plays several file types and breaks it up into chapters instead of a 4 hour or so span!
Audio cuts out for 1-2 seconds between files/chapters so it sounds like it's skipping. Would benefit from more controls in the library as I have many audiobooks it would be better if I could group certain books together. Genre/author/series
Buggy Too buggy to use. Here was my experience. While phone is locked or multitasking, playback often stutters, then jumps to the beginning of the next track. Sometimes does not change playback speed. Gets stuck on a given track and keeps playing it even if you change to a different one. When locked, playback stops after a short while and does not resume until lock button is pressed. Just too buggy to be reliable.
Where was this a year ago? I have been looking for a high quality audiobook player that can play at double speed, and my last audiobook app has double speed, but had a bizarrely uneven rhythm when at double speed. The biggest downside seems to be that when you hit pause from the drop down menu it takes a second or two to stop.
Good reader with simple interface and most necessary featers. Only one thing should be added - buttons to skip tracks and/or option to move tracks by sliding left/right on the picture. It's a must features. The most music players have it.
Thought my audio book files were corrupted. They would start to play all garbled in another audio book player that I had purchased. Decided to try a different player and this one plays my files perfectly.
absolute rubbish Why don't any of these audio book players work properly they do not link to all folders I have set my individual books in different folders with the books inside but it will only link to one and not the other so it doesn't work
Still somewhat twitchy but it works now. I like this simple but easy-to-operate UI. I hope they keep up improving the app (which it looks...not). How about monetize a little bit?
It would be nice if fast forward / rewind functionality was present. Also I kept seeming to run into an apparent bug where upon pausing and resuming it would always go back to a particular time about 3-5 minutes prior to doing so. Not sure if that is related to the app or the particular audio file. Overall not a bad app. Can't complain too heavily given it's free and does indeed do as advertised.
Very good simple audiobook player. Some featers I would like: 1) save last played place for each audiobook. 2) resume play when headphones are pluged back in, or phone call ends.
Found many issues with the app: 1. It tends to hang when I get any notification. 2. The rewind button/play button does not work sometimes 3. Sometimes it does not save the last stopped location Uninstalling.
It's base functionality was good, and for the first few Audiobooks I tried, it worked out quite well. But, on my last book, it all came apart as I discovered that this application only sorts the playback order on track name, and did not support a sort by track number, so the playback was in disarray. And you can't listen to a book in a random chapter sequence.
I've been using a different subpar audiobook player for years and I finally decided to see how the marketplace has changed, and has it ever changed! This app is free, has no ads, is super clean, simple, and works perfectly. It doesn't pic up all of my book pictures for some reason and I wish I could select an alternate folder art by putting a picture in the folder, but it has recognized like 90% of them. Overall I am very very happy with it. Get it for sure
I can't even use this app there is no place to actually listen please fix it as soon as possible then I'll rate it a 5 star if it is good. I was really hoping that this app would not let me down however I was wrong. Sorry
It plays audiobooks but you cannot manage them. You can't even choose which book to play. It does that for you. Meh. You can't even remove an mp3 album that was pulled into the mix. Not recommended.
Hit or miss audio book MP3 app Great app but I gave it 4 stars because it has a habit of pausing and rewinding randomly. I trouble shot it and the only conclusion is its the app itself. Stopping the app and restarting my phone seems to help. Once fixed, I'll change my review to five stars.
It's a great app but I keep having the same problem. After listening to it for a while the audio stops. It still palys but you cannot hear it. Also sometimes when listening to a story the audio jumps back to either the start of the chapter or the previous. It is really annoying. Please fix this!!
Good app. Does the work of playing audiobook well. There is one issue of audio distortion whenever there is any notification. Have to click pause and play button couple of time to get it working smoothly after that.
In general, it's a good free app. I listen it in a car via Bluetooth. However, every time phone receives notification it start to stutter :( Really annoying. It fixes if you hit pause and play again. But you need to do it from main app menu. Which means that you need to unlock your phone, find and start app, tap on Pause/play several times - which may cause you to troubles for using phone while driving :( Please fix it and I'll rate it 5 stars.
The option to speed up the audio is gone! The button appears in the description pictures but isn't there in the files. The sad death of an app with so much potential!
It's good for playing audio books. It seems to break if I get a notification. After the notification plays, the sound breaks up every second and doesn't fix until I force close and reopen the app.
Works good, but occasionally will freeze. It randomly skips ahead chapters a few times too. And while the sleep setting does work, I have woken up to it resuming play a few mornings for some odd reason. Other than that, it was very impressive. The controls are straight forward and responsive. Skip back is instantaneous and helpful for rewinding a few minutes on very long audio files.
Pretty buggy... nice features and easy to use voice acceleration but I needed to end tasks to get the app to close. It also had problems automatically pausing when interruptions (like GPS voice) came up.
It is good. One crucial thing that can help improve this app is lockscreen player. It is inconvenient to open the lockscreen every time you lose track of the book. Other apps like Podbean present a great example.
Great basic audio book app. Sleep timer and bookmarks are nice. Once it changes to next file you can't just back up to end of previous file, you have to select that file and find your spot manually.
Simplistic and straightforward. Sometimes the player will keep play but not actual make any sounds. Also it sometimes forgets where I am while I'm listening. Overall thought its pretty good.
Some stuttering, I tend to stream the audio to chromecast. Would prefer being able to put all my m4b audio books in the same directory rather than having a directory per file.
I like it. It finds all of your audio books and makes it easy to use. My last player was more difficult to use as I had to manipulate each book before I could use it
Perfect... accept for the fact that it does not have a player in the lock screen. I listen all the time and usually my headphones have a remote but sometimes I'm listening with my dock and since my phone is protected by finger print, I have to undock it and unlock it just pause my book which is highly annoying.
This is an amazing audio book app. I have Graphic Audio books and this app is lightyears ahead of their native app. 1. It remembers where you are in EVERY book! Even if you close the app or turn off your phone. 2. It easily lets you jump back (or forward) a few seconds. It does not, however, let you jump to a specific time. 3. Books chapters are made available. Makes it easier to jump around in case you are looking for a particular part of the book. 4. Stops playback for phone calls. 5. Pauses for notification sounds and then begins playback again. It even automatically rewinds a few seconds in order for you to get back on track with what was going on. 6. Bookmarks are available. 7. Play, pause and jump back controls from lock screen. Though, for me, this randomly doesn't work or needs to be pushed twice. The UI took me a bit to understand. 1. I thought thay by choosing a book that I would be taken to a different screen. Instead the book is loaded onto the bottom bar and you can begin playback. 2. When you do navigate to the book screen the chapters are listed below. I thought that you could scroll down to view them. Instead you have to click on them to open the chapters screen. Instead of seeing "Chapter 1", seeing "View chapters" would make this more intuitive. 3. Each book needs its own folder so that books show up independently instead of as 1 huge megabook. 4. All files for the same book should be in the book's root folder, not in subfolders. This allows the player to seamlessly start playing the part 2 file when the part 1 file is over. No need for manual intervention. I think this app is wonderful. I highly recommend it.
