Writers Block

Well, not really, just not had my blogging head on for a bit! Miss me?

So new year, how are we doing so far? Had some great weather these last few days, v cold yet sunny so have been out in the garden, hoping to get ahead for a change. We try to grow some veg, usually failing due to lack of time! Did manage to harvest some lovely squash and potatoes, didn’t do so well with anything else though. Will try harder this year 🙂

As far as crochet is concerned, I have sold quite a few gloves and hats it my local shop, now sold out so should be making more. I’m at a bit of a loss as to what to do next. I do think I need to be concentrating on natural and recycled fibres, which is why I set up my facebook page, Naturally Looped

Trouble is, I question my work a lot and wonder is it really worth the effort and time? I do have an Etsy shop but it takes so long to set up and add items, I have so far been put off. I worry that a buyer won’t be happy with the item and this is stopping me. Maybe I just need to get a grip and give it a go!! Oh, the tortured artist hahaha!!I will work it out…

In other news, we had a rather cultured trip to London where we went to see a play (called The Children, was really good), spent many hours at the Tate Modern and had dinner out at one of Ottolenghi’s restaurants (bit disappointing, great staff and venue, food wasn’t as good as I had hoped, but dont let me put you off). The best bit was meeting up with my fab old college chum who I hadn’t seen for neary 20 years. It was just like we’d met up the week before, loved every minute 🙂 Have to thank my friends for lending their apartment to us, very swish it was too!

We are now ready to adopt another doggie and went to The Dogs Trust today. No luck this time but will keep looking. Having 3 cats does make it a lot more difficult to find a pooch. There is a dog shaped hole in our lives that needs filling! We miss our gorgeous Ella, at the same time we know we can give another dog a good life, so gotta do it.

So, thats a quick round up of what’s been going on dow here in Devon. I have a couple of crochet projects on the go and a few more to start so hope to have some pics soon…

Finished Shopping Yet?

Even though we are having a quiet Xmas, with a couple of friends popping round for nibbles, I have still made numerous trips to the shops buying too much naughty food and drink! I have to go again this morning to get some veg and cat food, crikey, dont let me forget that!! You can’t help but get sucked in to this indulgent time of year. I have no kids and no religious beliefs but still can’t escape the lure of sparkly boxes of chocolate and overdosing on cheese!! Must have some restraint – I’ve lost 2 stone by watching what I eat, don’t want it back, thanks!

Now that Christmas is almost on us, all my crochet presents are done and have no fairs to do. This means a break from hooking…….nah! Im making myself a pair of legwarmers (for home use only, I’m not a member of Fame!!). I will also be making a cat cave using old pairs of jeans, stripped into yarn. There’s many other projects to get stuck into, seems to be nothing I couldn’t crochet 🙂

Well, the shops are calling so better go. Have a great Xmas whatever you are up to xxx

Busy Weekend

Managed to pack quite a lot into the weekend. On Saturday we drove up to Clovelly on the north Devon coast. We went to see the lovely artist, Lydia, who owns Candyland Studio Gallery. She creates textiles and wallpaper using her own designs, as well as making prints, cards and badges like this one…

On Sunday, I was selling my wares at the Christmas Fair, Bude Castle. A big thank you to all those lovely people who bought my crochet! The weather was lovely and sunny but really cold so my mitts and hats flew out the door!! It was such a successful day and I had lots of positive comments so really boosted my confidence in my work. Will definitely be there for the next one.

It’s a 45 min drive from Bude back to my house, which gave me just an hour to unload the car, grab some dinner and then it was back in the car to get to Exeter to see The Damned!  You may not know them but they were a punk band from the 70s who then went all goth in the 80’s (I was a bit young for them but my big brother was a fan so it rubbed off!). Well, they were great, even though now in their 60s!

Luckily, I have a quiet week so can catch up on some sleep, am shattered!

Another Xmas Fair

I will be selling my crochet at the Belstone Bazaar on Sunday, 27th November. It’s a small but well organised event in the village hall and this year there is a record number of tables booked so will definitely be worth a visit. Refreshments will also be available. Belstone is a lovely Dartmoor village in a great location for exploring the moor. Come and buy some Xmas gifts, have lunch in the pub then walk it off along the river!

Hope to see you there 🙂

Xmas Fair

Just a quickie tp let you know I will be selling my wares at Bude Castle on the 4th December. There are stalls in the castle and in a large marquee in the grounds (hopefuly heated as thats where I will be!). Bude is one of my favourite seaside towns with lovely beaches and cafes so will make a great day out. Come and say hello 🙂

Sad News

I’m so sorry to tell you that my beautiful dog, Ella, passed away on Friday. She was at least 14 so it was expected, though still very hard to deal with. It happened quickly and I was with her to stroke her for the last time and hold her til she went to sleep.

We adopted her from The Dogs Trust at Ilfracombe, Devon, 11 years ago. She was picked up as a stray so no history. We chose such a fantastic companion, she never caused any problems, was so patient and full of happiness and everyone loved her.

She will be missed so much
