It Items

Baby Blue

Pink is certainly the color for spring and I’m a big fan of blush. But, I’ve spied a few items in baby blue that are equally pretty without being too sweet. They’d look amazing with jeans and a white shirt.

I’m inspired by the colors in the Sies Marjan SS17 collection (the sweater above) and will be adding more items from the line to the kic shop.

Bottega Veneta bag, M.I.H. jeans, Loewe bag, Common Projects sneakers, Sies Marjan sweater.

Architectural Digest

‘Ode to Beauty’

The Paris pied-à-terre of the late Vogue Italia editor Franca Sozzani is in the March issue of Architectural Digest. The 17th-century prints in gilded frames and black floors are beyond chic.

Gifts

For My Valentine

Valentine’s Day is not a big deal in our house, but every once in a while I’ll surprise my sweetie with a little something.

Buly hand cream, Mast Brothers chocolate, Concert tee, Creed cologne, Tod’s leather wrap.

On Trend

Tee Up

Logo, printed, and concert T-shirts are all the rage and I have to wonder if my husband was at the forefront of this revival… I like them best when worn under a suit jacket as in the SS17 Dior show above.

Love, Bees, The Rolling Stones Lips, Elephants, Gucci. Etsy and eBay have tons of tees, too.

New Line

La Garconne x Save Khaki

I am constantly stealing Save Khaki tees from my husband, so you can only imagine how happy I am that they’ve finally done a women’s line in collaboration with La Garconne–talk about a win-win! Plus, khakis are a major trend for spring and the ones in the top row are really good.

The Financial Times

Marie-Amélie Sauvé’s Mastermind Magazine

I’ve been following the news about the upcoming launch of Marie-Amélie Sauvé’s Mastermind Magazine on Instagram and am happy that the Financial Times (well worth the subscription) sat down with the brand consultant and fashion director of T Magazine to get the scoop. Long a kic favorite for her personal style, I’m looking forward to seeing what Ms. Sauvé does with her own publication.

Jewelry

The Bold Lobe

If you’re going to buy one thing for spring, you may want to consider a pair of statement earrings, and you can even mismatch your danglers. This is the jewelry trend right now and it’s only going to get bigger (no pun intended) as Spring merchandise hits the stores.

Cayli Cavaco Reck's shop

Knockout Beauty

After I posted Going Organic about my search for natural beauty products, I popped into Cayli Cavaco Reck’s shop Knockout Beauty on the Upper East Side. Daughter of the ex-creative director of Allure magazine Paul Cavaco, Cayli’s interest in beauty and skincare started in her early teens and is now not only her passion, it’s a growing business. Following the success of a seasonal shop in the Hamptons last summer, the Lexington location is now a permanent address.

Packed with beautifully packaged natural products, the best part of the visit to the shop was the consultation with Cayli herself. I left with a slew of samples and detailed instructions on how to apply them and realized that an important part of buying beauty products are the recommendations from someone knowledgable. Then you can order refills online.

Wardrobe Staple

A Classic White Shirt

Peasant blouses are great, but I’ve been reaching for my classic white button-downs more often recently. They look sharp under a sweater or on their own with the cuffs rolled up.

I originally pulled this Peter Lindbergh image, which I cast for Vogue ages ago, because I’ve been talking to a lot of agents about the current models. There are many terrific models today and I hope we’ll see a shift to career longevity, which made me think of this group and that at least four of these women are still working.

Going Organic

Beauty is not my forte, but after I posted on the Shigeta collaboration I decided that it’s high time to get out of my comfort zone and try something new. I’m really interested in organic products, so I emailed a beauty editor to see if she would share her current favorites–and, voilà! That lip exfoliator has my name on it, this winter has taken it’s toll.

Kora Organics Rosehip Body Oil, Tata Harper mask, RMS Beauty Coconut Oil Living Luminizer, Rahua Classic Shampoo, Kahina Argan Oil, Onira Organics The Mask, Ilia Lip Exfoliator.
