(2017 c27) Designs by Ryn, Hero Arts, Lawn Fawn, Oxide Distress

The focal hummingbird from Designs by Ryn called Flying Hummingbird 1 & it was heat embossed in gold. I colored with Niji Pearlescent Watercolors (I love the shimmer which gives just a hint of the real birds iridescent beauty). It was popped up with foam squares.
The background image Textured Impressions 657772 by Sizzix/Hero Arts was stamped & heat embossed with clear on Cannon Mixed Media Paper (as it turned out this was a little too light weight for the Oxide Distress Ink spritzing technique, so I had to iron it lightly in the end, which took away a little of the shiny embossing) I applied Broken China Distress Oxide Inks by Ranger with the smooshing technique of using a clear acetate piece to apply ink to & then spritzing with water & smooshing to the paper. The white flowers with pearl centers were from my stash of embellishments as well as the butterfly cut out of designer paper. The sentiment was cut with Happy Birthday Boarder by Lawn Fawn.

(2017 c26) Neat N Tangled, Vellum Window
Today I made a Stamped, Heat Embossed & Water Colored Vellum “Window” card.
As you can see in pictures on the right I made the inside by brushing the Distress Oxide Inks by Ranger with a Guilding Brush by Martha Stewart. to create an ombre rainbow effect.
Next I sponged Peeled Paint with ColorBox Art Screen Tropical and then sprinkled water over the panel to activate the Oxide inks. The vellum panel was stamped with a set from Neat N Tangled called Fractal Cloud Stamp Set. I heat embossed and painted with Niji Pearlescent Watercolors. as you can see the panel in picture on the left, I scored on the left side making a hinge to attach the black front Window panel which was folded in half and the windows were cut out with a 3 inch square Punch By Marvy Uchida

I was able to achieve the rectangle shapes by punching from the folded side first & rotating and lining up with first punched square & punching again on the opposite side creating a larger rectangle hole.

I used very strong Score-Tape adhesive tape to adhere the vellum panel inside the fold and to adhere the folded top portion. The last pictures shows a closeup showing how you can see the ferns through the window. The sentiments were stamped with Fractal Cloud Stamp Set. The inside Prayers sentiment was stamped with Prayers by Simon Says Stamp & Hero Arts.

(2017 c24) Essentials by Ellen, Oxide Distress
More fun with Distress Oxide Inks by Ranger: Peeled Paint, Broken China, Wilted Violet & regular Distress Ink Blueprint Sketch.

As you can see to the right, First I impressed the dies from Essentials by Ellen called: Wild Garden by Julie Ebersole EEDIEJ=019-15 into my watercolor paper by using a silicone mat with my Sizzix Big Kick so that I would know where to apply Distress Oxide Inks by Ranger for my flowers.
For the purple I first layered regular Distress Ink: Blueprint Sketch and then sponged Oxide Wilted Violet on top. Then I sponged Broken China for the background. In the second picture you can see how I spritzed the entire piece with water to softer & make the Oxide react. The picture on the left shows how i had taped my dies together for the first impression and then it was possible to place over the flowers & actually cut out after coloring.
When removing the pieces from the background I used a great technique I learned from Jennifer McGuire’s Post with Laurie Willison about positioning die pieces with Press N Seal (Jennifer’s Husband actually invented Press N Seal). The picture on the right shows that the entire piece was pressed down on a piece of Press N Seal and then carefully lifted off the large background piece leaving the die cuts positioned on the Press N Seal.
For this card I lined the background with a piece of white cardstock and I then removed the center pieces and glued in the appropriate empty spaces of the flowers. Finally I sprayed water onto my hand and “clapped” it over the piece to create drops & heated to cause the Oxide Ink to react. The sentiment was cut from DCWV 6×6: The Foiled Cardstock MS-019-00003 with Positive Word by Julie Ebersole EEDIEJ-042-16
Tomorrow I will make a card using the actual cut out flowers.

(2017 c23) Rock Salt Rejoice
Rejoice, Christ is Risen, He is Risen indeed!

I prepped a piece of discarded corrugated cardboard by gluing designer paper over it. Then I put a thinned coat of white gesso over it and sponged the edges & streaks across the surface with Tim Holtz products: Distress Paint Faded Jeans & Broken China. I stamped with a retired stampset from Gina K Designs by Nina Brackett called Christ is Risen onto the upper center of the panel & Heat embossed with Seaglass Blue Embossing Powder. Next I prepped the chipboard wings by painting with very wet yellow watercolor and sprinkling rock salt over & let it dry. When the rock salt was brushed away it left the darker areas where the salt had attracted the wet paint. I then stamped the same image on the Popped out wings and carefully aligned to the image on the base before gluing the wings down. Finally I punched holes in the corners and tied knots in sheer ribbon for hanging.
