When you publish a new story, it will be added to the home page feed of everyone following you.

Push Notifications on App

If your followers are using the Medium mobile application, they will receive a push notification with your new content.

Note: If you first publish a story as "unlisted" then make it public, it will not send a push notification.

Daily Digests by Email

If your followers have email story digests enabled, your new story will appear in their daily digest the following day.

Tags

If your story includes tags (limited to 3 tags per story), it will appear in the appropriate tag page(s) at the top of the "Latest" tab—until someone else posts a newer story using the same tag.

As your new story receives recommendations from other users, it will climb the ranks under the "Top" tab on the tag page.

Recommending Stories

When you recommend other people's stories (but not your own), that story will get added to your followers' feeds, with an attached note that you recommended this story. It will go into their daily digests as well. There are no push notifications for recommends in the mobile app.
