Report: Italy to rescue bank with €6.5bn instead of €5bn

Italian officials have told international media that the government will pump €6.5 billion into the ailing Monte dei Paschi di Siena bank, instead of the initially reported €5 billion. Italy's government agreed to bail out the bank last week. "The state intervention will bring security to the bank, and it will become one of the safest in the world," one Italian official told the FT on Tuesday.
