Research Position Listings

TECHNICAL ASSISTANT, Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences (EAPS), to assume a position in environmental and atmospheric chemistry in the Shuhei Ono Laboratory for Stable Isotope Geochemistry. Will aid in the testing and maintenance of a prototype instrument for atmospheric trace gas analysis. Responsibilities will include assisting with the maintenance and operation of instruments for isotope ratio measurements, data analysis, and troubleshooting.

REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as engineering, applied math, computer science, chemistry, or related field; programming skills using LabVIEW and MATLAB; demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills; and the ability to work both independently and in a small group. Administrative Position Listings

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT II, Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences (EAPS)-Center for Global Change Science, to assist center director and senior administrative staff with daily office operation and serve as first-point of-contact for a multidisciplinary research center.  Primary administrative support duties include managing the director’s calendar and scheduling meetings, arranging frequent and complex international and domestic travel and submitting expense reports, extensive correspondence and document preparation, and triaging inquiries and requests. Will order equipment and supplies, arrange for international shipments of major instruments involving carnets, monitor laboratory usage, assemble class materials on Stellar, and prepare promotion packages requiring a high degree of accuracy.  This position involves working with faculty, staff, students, and outside contacts and requires a high degree of discretion and the ability to collaborate with colleagues.

Job Requirements: At least three years’ experience working in a complex administrative role; advanced scheduling and calendar management skills; excellent communication skills; meticulous editing and proofreading skills; Macintosh proficiency; and thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office, Apple Mail, and iCal.  Must be organized, attentive to detail, and able to take direction and follow through on assignments independently. Should also be responsive in a fast-paced and evolving environment, able to identify and adjust to shifting priorities, and keep others informed while successfully meeting deadlines.  Seek a professional who is able to demonstrate initiative, handle multiple projects simultaneously, maintain a high degree of confidentiality, and be proactive in anticipating the needs of the office.  Experience with Skype, Photoshop, and Illustrator and ability to quickly learn new software is desirable.  A bachelor’s degree and administrative support and front office experience in a high-profile program/company are preferred.
