As our flight only arrived at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport at 2155, we had no choice but to stay overnight on Hulhumalé. For those uninitiated, Maldives is an island country. So, getting to your hotel is not possible without engaging in the service of seaplanes and speed boats.

If you are booked on a seaplane transfer and your flight only arrives into Malé after 1530 like Jam, you will be required to stay overnight in Hulhumalé or Malé. This is because seaplanes only operate from 0600 until 1630 daily. So, one must arrive into Malé before 1530 in order to catch a same day seaplane transfer to your hotel. Of course, you can always choose speed boat transfer which operates 24 hours per day. I shall write about my seaplane transfer after this post, the next most exciting thing to do after Galapagos Explorer cruises!
Prior to my Maldives trip, I had booked Fuana Inn through agoda.com. I chose to stay overnight in Fuana Inn due to its close proximity to the airport. You know what; one has to go back to the airport to check in for seaplane transfer the next day! I had also booked for airport transfer. Do take note that this airport transfer is usually a round trip.

Transfer to Fuana Inn
Fuana Inn is a 3-star hotel located on Hulhumalé island. It is convenient as a stop over hotel before your island transfer the next day as the hotel is only 15 minutes away from Malé International Airport. I also like the fact that the beach is at the hotel’s doorstep. I had no time to take a walk on the beach as we arrived at late night and left for airport early the next morning for our seaplane transfer.
