Tearing tears

TEARING tears tear!

… if you are not allowed to cut with a blade or a scissor, you tear the paper with your hands and then you glue it together … and something different appears – some ~~ thing ~~ you never pre(prior) planned – common plain planes – and you cannot really explain what this face you made said – it just happened.

LIFE RIGHTS

2014 LUCY (13)

“Right(s) as a concept emerges in any arrangement triggered by a relationship of power (pouvoir) which concerns established ways of acting or being acted upon together with the affirmation of the multiplicity and the capacity of individual and collective bodies to affect and to be affected (puissance) by an event. RADICALLY THINKING rights, AS THINKING a life, AS THINKING LIFE RIGHTS, entail a jurisprudence of multiplicities for it is directed at accommodating multiple relations to transform the established ways of acting and being acted upon (Linda Stewart).”

I find myself continually redefining what I am!

Locating:  Linda Stewart (1970-09-22)

I hope this explain a little who I was, who I am and what I am becoming and that said, [I don’t like writing this, because it is about ‘me’ and I am merely representing one of the copies of me, but I find it necessary, to give some insights on my face]

I am a descendant from European settlers, I was born and grew-up in Apartheid South Africa.  I went to a Christian, Nationalist University and obtained my first three degrees there. I did my post-graduate studies in international/regional and domestic human right laws specialising in socio-economic rights. I teach legal hermeneutics and socio-economic rights. I have published extensively on these topics. I just completed my 20th year in formal academia. I am a full professor with a national research foundation rating.

I have attempted to do social activism work in rural, marginalised collectivities in South Africa. I have tried to participate in public participation processes. I was once a member of the ANC, the current ruling party, and stood in local elections as a candidate. I was also very much part of the establishment that tried to address the inequalities in South Africa, one of the ‘solutions’ being the introduction of a basic income grant (BIG). I have written on social protection (including social assistance, social security, social insurance and informal social protection measures). I did research for the Ministerial Committee on Social Protection (2001). I focused on the rights of vulnerable children and was and still is interested in water going beyond the right to access water in South Africa. I don’t regret doing this. I do have a good understanding how rights and constitutions operate as well as how to civil dis-obedience has potentialities for change.

About four years ago, after working with a collectivity in attempting to assist them to access land, housing and water, I went through a (personal) crisis. I could not understand why the world(s) is not what it seems to be. I started reading anthropology and philosophy. I did not engage with the history of philosophy but found an entry point (an opening door) in the works of Deleuze and Guattari. Reading Deleuze opened new world(s) to me.

As a law professor, Deleuze taught me about judgment, doxa and I learned and are still learning that there are a multitude ways of thinking, doing, and existing. I am currently going through yet again, a crisis trying to figure out how to write about inter alia the Law in terms of time and space and movement, justice as mercy, reconceptualising rights, not human rights (but a system of rights focusing on a situation), how courts operate and how in my eyes, constitutionalism has become a new form of colonialism and human rights an universal religion. There are numerous other issues included and outside these issues.

Putting it differently, one might say, I am interested in optional ethical (Spinoza/Deleuze) organising principles (navigating tools) opening-up movement in culture, morality, established ways of thinking and doing that are at present restricting multitude of ways of existence. In my world, there are no subjects, signs, signifiers. I am not concerned with moral arguments but with the processes opening up new possibilities. I work with relations between bodies (Spinoza’s idea of bodies) and how power and power (puissance) our capacity to act and be acted upon is intermingled and indeed highly complex.

What I am trying to say, is that I had no grounding when I started (and possible this may be a good thing). This process is exhausting!! Along with this, I experience my own marginalisation within the academic environment.* It is also important to note that I am a diagnosed Bipolar that have been taking psychiatric drugs for more than 18 years.

Enough said!

the force that bonds A LIFE
overcoming the boundaries of time and space,
of our‘selves’

Amor fati!
yes, well, yes

*awkwardly pulling the face together with the shoulders as if the head is leaving*
quietly leaving the law,
of what ought to
and
what thou shalt not …
A LIFE
how absurd, how abstract judgment seems to be,
as one opens-up to understanding!
leaving THE FATHERS,
the HOLEY WRIT,
escaping
the image of death,
the solitude,
the loneliness …
Embracing a life,
not my life or your life,
but a life –
when we grow in understanding that …

A LIFE is being alive,
A LIFE is being a life,
while we die everyday,
becoming anew

Running in circles simultaneously bouncing between poles
one crawls, digging the dirt,
one try standing-up tall,
one falls,
[just-ease – just-tease]
no need to rush,
a different speed,
a passage to the outside
where it is no longer important
to say I!

Running in circles simultaneously bouncing between poles
Creating a loop
a binding force
a current
a flow
a passage to the outside
where it is no longer important
to say I!

Running in circles simultaneously bouncing between poles
Press: Enter
Press: Flow
Intertwined and outward bound
Drifting away from the hole
A kinda vertigo
– go – go – go –
Let it be!
Let it go!

Between the darkness
between the light –
the only thing is a flow!

O Superman. O judge. O Mom and Dad. Mom and Dad.
O Superman. O judge. O Mom and Dad. Mom and Dad.
Hi. I’m not home right now. But if you want to leave a
message, just start talking at the sound of the tone.
Hello? This is your Mother. Are you there? Are you
coming home?
Hello? Is anybody home? Well, you don’t know me,
but I know you.
And I’ve got a message to give to you.
Here come the planes.
So you better get ready. Ready to go. You can come
as you are, but pay as you go. Pay as you go.And I said: OK. Who is this really? And the voice said:
This is the hand, the hand that takes. This is the
hand, the hand that takes.
This is the hand, the hand that takes.
Here come the planes.
They’re American planes. Made in America.
Smoking or non-smoking?
And the voice said: Neither snow nor rain nor gloom
of night shall stay these couriers from the swift
completion of their appointed rounds.

Cause when love is gone, there’s always justice.
And when justice is gone, there’s always force.
And when force is gone, there’s always Mom. Hi Mom!

So hold me, Mom, in your long arms. So hold me,
Mom, in your long arms.
In your automatic arms. Your electronic arms.
In your arms.
So hold me, Mom, in your long arms.
Your petrochemical arms. Your military arms.
In your electronic arms.

Friedrich Nietzsche – Thus Spoke Zarathustra

Thus Spoke Zarathustra: A Book for All and None (also translated as Thus Spake Zarathustra; German: Also sprach Zarathustra: Ein Buch für Alle und Keinen) is a philosophical novel by German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, composed in four parts between 1883 and 1885. Much of the work deals with ideas such as the “eternal recurrence of the same”, the parable on the “death of God”, and the “prophecy” of the Übermensch, which were first introduced in The Gay Science.

Preface to On the Genealogy of Morals: A Reading

A wonderful scene in Arnaud Desplechin’s A Christmas Tale, in which a father reads to his (chronically unhappy) daughter the opening lines of Nietzsche’s text. How he means her to understand these words is left marvelously opaque, and there is a nice transition to the next (brief) scene that has been left exactly where it belongs.
