stateofgameslogonewWe’ve covered a lot of ground over the past six years on the podcast, and sometimes it’s nice to look back on a great topic and reintroduce it to a new audience. The topic this time is a somewhat-controversial theory introduced by Cody Jones back in 2012 which states that to have the most compact game collection you should only have one game of each type. We thought it was pretty crazy back then, and the opinion hasn’t changed too much. BUT – we do embrace the madness and practice a little bit of The Jones Theory on the podcast, all for your enjoyment.

Greetings dear readers!

Well, with Origins sneaking up on me and a family matter to attend to directly after the convention, it took me longer than expected to do the prize drawing for the 7th anniversary giveaway. So, as consolation, I decided to do three giveaways! In addition to the grand prize package I did two more random selections for Dice Hate Me t-shirts. The winners are mentioned below.

I’ll be doing a lot more giveaways in the near future, so stay tuned and keep commenting! And thanks to everyone for all the support, whether it’s through comments, listening to the podcast, interacting on Twitter or Instagram, or just saying hello at cons. You’re all totally awesome!

This unboxing is a monster, folks – not the video, the game! Lisboa is 9 pounds of eurogaming awesomeness from Vital Lacerda which I recently picked up at Origins. At least I assume it’s awesome because it’s from Vital. We shall see soon enough as I’ll be tackling this behemoth soon, and I’ll even give you all a review to boot!

stateofgameslogonewGreetings dear listeners, it’s time to sit back and take a trip with us to Columbus, Ohio for one of our favorite cons of the year – Origins Game Fair! This will be the sixth Origins that we’ve covered on the podcast and we discuss many familiar things like the Three-Legged Mare, late-night gaming, and tons of great unpublished games on the tables. However, this is the first Origins where we had a near-death experience on the podcast! We can laugh about it now, but we thought we had lost Eric Handler there for a minute or two – you’ll just have to hear it to believe it.

stateofgameslogonewSometimes you’re the windshield and sometimes you’re the bug – I’m talking about games with a little bit of spite in them! Whether you love ‘em or hate ‘em, mean games have been around for a long, long time (heck, Sorry has been around since the 1920s) so we thought it would be fun to take a look at the dark side of gaming. Don’t worry, we won’t be mean, and I promise you lots of fun!

Like a doting father touting his beautiful newborn, I am proud to show off my co-creation with Darrell Louder and Richard Launius. If you didn’t back Fate of the Elder Gods on Kickstarter you can find it at GenCon, and then in finer retail outlets in September! Here I present a video of me unboxing the Mass Production Copy – a proof version of the game that is exactly as it will appear in retail. Enjoy!

Hello dear readers! Hopefully by now you’ve all noticed the festivities going on around here for Dice Hate Me’s 7th anniversary. Well, because I want the party to be a big one, I’m giving away a big present with all sorts of goodies! And there are several ways to enter.

AnniversaryGoodies

First off, the stuff. The winner of the 7th Anniversary giveaway will receive a brand new copy of First Class (in honor of the latest review on the site), my personal copy of Red November (the actual one I played 7 years ago to write the first review for the blog!), a copy of Angry Dice, a Dice Hate Me t-shirt, and an opportunity to appear on an episode of The State of Games podcast to talk about absolutely anything you’d like!

Here are the different ways you can enter the giveaway. Each method will get you one entry, so give ‘em all a shot!

1) Submit a comment on anything on dicehateme.com. It would be awesome if you commented on the recent review of First Class, or on some of the curated links I shared in the Anniversary post, but if there’s something else you love and want to comment on, feel free!

2) Share a link to this post on Twitter! Please tag @dicehateme, tell everyone it’s the 7th Anniversary, and use the hashtag #DiceHateMeGiveaway.

3) Share a link to this post on Facebook! Please tag @dicehateme and tell everyone it’s the 7th Anniversary!

4) Head over to Instagram and follow @dicehateme. That’s it, that’s all you have to do! If you don’t have Instagram, you totally should. I post a lot of cool content over there that I don’t post anywhere else.

I’ll choose the winner on Sunday, June 11th, at 9 p.m. and post about the winner on June 12th.

Thank you all for visiting, and for reading, and for being awesome all these years!
