As a little girl, all I wanted to do was become a mom. I would daydream about what it was going to be like.
I was going to have it allllllllll together.
I would never, ever, wear yoga pants to drop my kids off at school. My house would always be clean and organized. I would make a homemade dinner every single night. (One of my favorite lies I told myself – my kids would NEVER eat a hot dog, HA!) My marriage would be exactly the same as it was before we had kids. I would have a fulfilling career. I would make creative and handmade Halloween costumes every year.
And above all, I would never yell at my children or lose my patience. All while wearing skinny jeans, stilettos, and a full face of makeup.
Are you laughing yet? I am!
I guess you can imagine how that turned out.
Many years later, my dream of becoming a mother did come true. I gave birth to three of the most amazing little people. They are my everything. But the perfect mom? Not. Even. Close.
I try really hard, but let’s be honest, I’m a work in progress.
If I am not in yoga pants, there’s a good chance I have flour on my face. My house is pretty cute, and on the surface appears clean (just don’t look too close.) I do make dinner most nights, but there is a good chance that my kids aren’t going to eat it. (They are super picky.) I’ve been married for long time, and while we have for sure had our ups and downs, we are very happily married. But not without a lot of hard work. I have a fulfilling and creative job that I love, but like all jobs there are things that I don’t like about it. I don’t even like Halloween, so homemade costumes aren’t even on my radar. Why was that even part of my definition of being a good mom?
These days I’m juggling raising my three babies, being a wife, working as photographer and blogger from home, and trying to not embarrass myself in public.
I started Baked Bree in February of 2010 to document my life in my kitchen. I said that it was a love letter to anyone that has ever come to my house for a meal. That part is still true. Over the years it has evolved into so much more than that. Now you will find lots of recipes, but you will also find inspiration and encouragement for other areas of your life too.
My life is about more than cupcakes and cookies, so this space is going to reflect that. Motherhood, marriage, military life, travel, photography, kids, house, and home. We are going to talk about it all.
My tagline is live light, be happy. Living light means that life doesn’t have to be so serious all the time. We can get rid of the things that weigh us down and change the things that aren’t working. That can mean food, relationships, things – we have a lot of power over our happiness. I live my life with the focus on being happy. Obviously I’m not 100% happy all the time, I’m not a robot, but I believe that being happy is a choice. I make being happy a priority.
The fact that you choose to come here makes me incredibly happy. I know that your time is extremely valuable and I can’t thank you enough for stopping by.
If you are new to Baked Bree, welcome! A good place to start is the recipe index. (Just don’t do it if you don’t have a snack nearby, you’re gonna get hungry.) You will find a little bit of everything – things to cook for dinner, desserts, appetizers, snacks, and obviously cookies.
I also like to travel and share my favorite things to see, eat, and do.
Every Friday I send my Happy Mail newsletter, is my favorite thing to write each week. I share inspiration and some of the coolest things that I find around the Internet for that week.
I also take pictures of people (not just tacos and desserts). You can check out my portfolio here.

- I went to college to become a teacher, but my true love is photography. I started years and years ago shooting film. I was had a portrait studio for 4 years before I started Baked Bree. I still on occasion take pictures of people, not just cupcakes.
- I collect signed cookbooks, my most prized is a signed Julia Child that my husband bought me for Christmas a few years ago. I also buy a local cookbook one on every trip I take. I write a note inside with the date and what I was doing. I’m going to give them to my daughter when she has her own home.

Hi Bree, nice to meet you! I made a comment under your choc chip cookie recipe and thought I’d say hello here too. I found you over on Tasty Kitchen…just love it as well as Pioneer Woman!
I’m fairly new to ‘scratch-ish’ cooking…most of my experience in cooking has been with boxed or frozen meal-starter kits! But I decided awhile back that I wanted to try and take in a little less processed stuff and try to make more things that my kids and hubby will remember. Not that the Dough Boy isn’t memorable, but well…I have this corny dream of wanting my kids to brag about my cooking/baking someday!
I have a 5-yr-old and a 2-yr-old…so far, the 5-yr-old is a so-so eater, and my 2yr old daughter sounds (so far) like your daughter…who is actually me incarnate. I’m a carb queen and I could NEVER survive on Atkins either! (and vegetarian!)
Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and encourage your delightful blog so far! You’re doing a great job in my opinion, keep it up! (I’m a fairly new blogger myself -since September. Not a food blog, but just an encouraging-thought-spot. Which I really need to update!)
Hope to see you around! I’ll friend you on TK too!
Kristi
I can relate to you so much. I have 3 kids and my husband is a pilot. We move a lot too. Next move is this coming summer. I also have piles of recipes from everywhere on my desk. I should start sorting them. I looked at your pictures on Facebook and the cook with your kids pics are so cute. I’ll be following your blog in my Reader.
Cheers,
Hélène
Looking forward to meeting you at the LA food blogging workshop in a couple of weeks, your blog is really beautiful.
I can’t wait to meet you too! Thanks for reading.

Bree,
It was so very nice meeting you, twice. I first met you at Jack and Jane. You were taking photographs and I thought that you did an amazing job with the young lady and helping me shop for my two children. Under the circumstance you made my day a little brighter. Then we met again on Easter at my brother’s house. I really enjoyed our visit. You are very easy to talk to and I left thinking that we had a lot in common. Then, I visited your website. Wow! Your site is very beautiful. I just love it. When I saw the picture of Avery, I smiled and remembered that special day. I just wanted to say that you are a special person and extremely talented. I look forward to visiting your webpage as often as I can.
Donna (Cath’s sister-in-law) 🙂
Bree — Did I see somewhere that you’re a military family? Take a look at our program for MIL at Camp Blogaway: http://campblogaway.com/category/military/

Your food and photography’s amazing…I’m especially eyeing the barbecue sauce!! And yes, at least, you have a recipe binder…I have been trying to make one since last year!!
thank you so much. my recipe binder is even worse now that I have the blog! Every time I get a new idea I put it in there. I need a bigger one.
Hi Bree! I saw your name on another site and came over because my maiden name is Hester. What a small world! I love your site and your photos. I can’t wait to explore some more.
What a small world. Thanks for checking me out.
time for a company to come out with the E-Recipe book, preferably flat with a big touch screen (or better yet voice command!) where you can type in and organize all your recipes and never have to worry about losing those precious slips of paper that contain so much genius again..
Happy to find you while stumbling! Your photos are gorgeous!
thank you very much!
Love the blog, we seem to have similar tastes and three kids. Keep up the great work, I keep reading and cooking.
thank you very much. How old are your three?
Hey! I just stumbled upon your site! The recipes look awesome! Just thought I’d drop a comment, from another Bree. XD
thanks Bree! Love your name. 🙂
Bree,
I just came across your website by accident and could not believe that it’s the “little Bree” that I used to babysit! I was your “mothers helper” for a while! I used to walk you all over Linwood, to the parks, to my house, etc. I even have pictures of you from when you were just a toddler! I see your Grandmother at the Country Club where I bartend, almost weekly. Glad to see how beautiful you are and obviously how well you are doing!
Michele
I just made a low-fat banana bread that tasted great but this one, well it looks luscious! As others commented, I really like your pictures and have been enjoying your posts 🙂
thank you very much.
A fine looking family, even more attractive than the food!
thanks Martin. I think that they are pretty cute too.

hello! I found your blog through Tara’s blog. I’m so happy I found your blog, I’m starting to bake so I’m SUPER excited to try out all your yummy recipes!!!! I LOVE your shoot with tara, If you don’t mind me asking , where did you shoot it? I love the orange trees in one of the last shots, Soooo… cute..
Thank you. We were in an orange grove in San Juan Capistrano near an In-n-Out. It was a beautiful location that she had never used before. But there were a few other photographers wandering around so it must be a well known location.
So happy you connected w/me on Twitter! I love your blog and am so pumped to have found you!!
hi bree, found your blog via tara whitney’s. i was wondering if you grew up in the south jersey area? i have noticed a few mentions of philly, the shore, etc and was just curious. i grew up in gloucester county, nj and am always happy to hear of places “back home” — i am now in UT.
thanks for all the great recipes, i have the enchiladas and barbacoa marked and ready for grocery shopping. oh and the icecreams too….cookie and cream, brown sugar and we made your strawberry the other day.
I did grow up in South Jersey. I lived in Linwood which is about 15 minutes from Atlantic City. Small world! I miss so many Jersey foods… when we go back we basically eat ourselves sick and get it out of system for awhile. And then go back to CA and go on a strict diet!
Bree,
I love your blog; you have amazing cooking and baking content, as well as beautiful foodie photographs and a beautiful family! Keep up the great bloggin’!
Best,
Amie
thank you so much Amie!
Hi Bree
I’m a friend of Corey. I hope you don’t mind me contacting you directly. I really like the photos you have taken for Corey and after talking to her today have now had a look at your website and food blog. I love your food blog, it’s fantastic and very inspirational. I have been going through some of your recipes and I’m keen to try them out soon. My husband recently bought me a digital SLR so I have been teaching myself how to use it. I was wondering if you could let me know the manual settings you use for your photos. I particularly like the really light photos you have taken for Corey, they’re really nice. Hope to hear from you. Stace
Hi!!!
I’ve got to say it: It’s an addictive Blog!
I’ve been taking great ideas and trying things at home for the last few months.
I’m from Argentina and here we might or might not find some specific ingredients, or maybe they come in a different shape. But it’s always great to take the main idea and see how to make it your own. It’s also a part of the creative part, isn’t it?
I love the explanations, the pictures are incredibly helpful, and your assistants are awesome! 😀
Thanks a million and a huge hug from Bs As.
Jules
Thank you Jules!
Hi Bree
Just stumbled on your site, and as a pastry chef i love your recipes, cant wait to browse more…. keep it coming.
Mizchef (Traci)
Thank you Traci!
You have a terrific blog, great recipes and amazing photos. I just moved back to Chico, my hometown, after living in Las Vegas for 15 years. Other than being closer to family and old friends, the next best thing is the local farmers markets…aw tomatoes that actually taste like tomatoes, something unheard of in Las Vegas. We are now retired so I have time to research recipes and spend time cooking and baking for family and friends. I look forward to following your holiday cookie recipes and packaging ideas. Thanks for taking the time to share your talents with all of your readers. I don’t know how you find the time with three little ones to take care of, but I’m glad you do.
Thank you so much Karen. I love the farmers markets here and the fresh produce cannot be beat. Welcome back!
Beautiful family, Bree. I ran across your site by simple web surfing. I love the recipes and cooking tips I’ve seen thus far. Looking forward to taking this journey with you!
Thank you so much! I hope that you do continue to read.
Hi Bree! I’m Bree! so naturally i was intrigued when I stumbled on your website. I LOVE IT! I’m acutally only a college student, but I’m starting out on my own and these recipes are so easy to follow and the pictures really help. My mom’s a cook, so learning from her is a little intimidating, but I love coming home and show her that I learned to cook something new on my own. I can’t wait to try some out and see what she thinks, but she said that they look good when you’ve made them. Keep going!
Bree
Hi Bree! Nice to meet you. I love cooking at home too. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do.
Today is Thanksgiving, and I’ve been given the “simple” task from my mother-in-law to bring the green beans. Boy will she been suprised when I present your jazzed up Greenbean Almondine recipe! THANKS!
Way to impress the family!
Dear Bree: I wish I could show you my recipe “collection”. Picture fifty years worth of clippings and cards and scribblings–everything from something I’ve seen on tv to favorites handed down by relatives. Actually, there are more than fifty years worth if you count the crumbling pages of a cookbook I had as a child. I often think that if I cook around the clock for the rest of my life, I couldn’t possibly get thro
Anyway, I found your site because of the Toffee Blondies, which I now plan to try. If mine are as good as yours look, you have answered this year’s personal-but-not-too personal gift need. Thanks so much for the idea and for the downloadable recipe card.
Thank you Janet! I hope that you like the Toffee Blondies as much as I did.
Hi Bree, I’m very happy to stop at your blog. It is very attractive me with your recipes and kinds of cupcakes. Thanks so much for sharing with us.
my pleasure.
Hi, Bree. I live in Fair Oaks and have just discovered what blogs are! Glad to see we have a lovely food blogger here in the area. I look forward to reading your feeds. Cheers
What a small world! I am 2 miles away from you. Welcome!
Hi Bree! I live in Sacramento too. As many others have commented, I just happened to stumble upon your website. How funny to find out that we’re in the same city! 🙂
I love your blog. I’m sure it’s very time-consuming, but it’s sure fun to read.
Hope to run into you at the Farmer’s Market. I miss the choices during the winter months. During the summer, I feel like I could shop on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays AND Sundays and never buy enough fruits and veggies.
thank you Kerri! Which is your favorite market to go to?
Hi Bree,
Tonight I made my first post to my food blog about cooking in college. Baked Bree has gotten me so excited about food blogging and inspired me to start a blog of my own! It’s made me appreciate the difficulties of setting up a website but more importantly the fun of sharing delicious recipes. You’re blog is amazing, thanks for the inspiration.
-Kate
This made me teary! Blogging is awesome and you will love it as much as I do.
Just found your blog today(tonight) LOVE LOVE LOVE! So excited to try some recipes.
Welcome Laila! Thanks for saying hi.
Found a link to your site on Whipperberry. What a great site! I see we are neighbors, I’m in Elk Grove. Maybe we’ll run into each other since I see you like farmers markets. I tend to frequent the one under the bridge in Broadway often. 🙂
Hello Stephanie! Welcome! Maybe we will. Which market is your favorite? I like the Henry’s in Elk Grove.
My all time favorite store is Whole Foods. I stop by there every time I go to the Galleria. I wish we had one in EG but I guess the Nugget will do.
I love Nuggets too. We don’t have one near us.
Coastie wife here. 🙂 I found you through a friend who is a big fan of your recipes. She led me here today and I’ve already made your PB cookies (AMAAAAAAAZING btw!)! I adore cooking and baking from scratch and plan to try many of your recipes. It’s nice to “meet” other military wives who do the same, as I meet far too many who eat processed, boxed foods and are too scared to try anything else.
I’m a CA native btw, and we’re currently planning to PCS from Guam to Seattle.
Keep up the great cooking and pictures! I love it!
Hi Lauren! We are getting ready to PCs too. Kansas for a school then off to DC. Thanks for visiting.
Hi Bree. I googled Passover Brisket and found your website. I love it. I too love to cook and am interested in preserving family recipes. I helped assembles our church cookbook that included four generations of recipes from my family. We too celebrate both Christian and Jewish holidays as we are Episcopalian and my daughter is engaged to a Jewish man.
Hi Cheryl, welcome!
What an awesome tribute to buddy. He was everything you mentioned and more. Your pie recipe is always going to be a special kind of memory for my favorite brother-in-law. Great pics of clay and Buddy. Love to your whole family.
Thank you Uncle Herb!
I don’t bake, yet, but this one I am going to try because it’s so special-thanks, Bree
Bree, I was fortunate enough to sample your Swedish visiting cake. A co-worker made it and gave you all the glory. She raved about your fabulous recipes. After I went to your blog I just couldn’t help but join in. It’s funny, you mention your cook book is (was) your method of storing your baking secrets..well, for me I just go online and find it. Your site is perfect! You should see me, my mac laptop sitting next to me on the counter while searching for ingredients. The web page layout and explainatin is wonderful. I love it. Here in Kodiak Alaska I have found many news friends and I plan to share your info with them (in fact I have already started- love the network!).
Melody
Are you a Coastie by any chance? I am glad that you like the site! If you pull recipes from the Internet, you should try Evernote. it is the best!
Hi Bree! Beautiful photo of you, and also of your family. Your about page describes me a little bit too with my recipes and cookbooks all over the house! Very beautiful blog and nicely organized. I wanted to extend my thanks to you as well for helping me during that breakout session at camp blogaway. I definitely felt after that weekend that my blog was going to change directions a bit. Thanks!
thank you! It was nice meeting you and please keep in touch. If you ever need any help or just a chat…
Bree … you have a fan in Jamaica ! *smile* … love your blog … love the name bakedbree
thank you Stephanie! Say hi to Jamaica for me!
I just came accross your blog from Pioneer Woman and your Ricotta Dip for Strawberries. Can’t wait to try it. I also live in Sac, so its nice to see a local blogger too. 🙂
I shouldn’t have it enter so fast. I am love with your blog, and can’t wait to try so many recipes (Ricotta Dip, Loaded Baked Potato Dip, Pumpkin Bread Pudding and many more) and have already added it to my reader. Oh and my nephew also goes to SJE- though a little older than your kids.)
What a small world! I love SJE. It is the best school ever.
I stumbled onto this blog while looking for a strawberry muffin recipe. I have poked around a bit and will definitely be adding this to my blog list. Thanks for your efforts and for sharing your recipes!
Welcome Katherine! I am glad that you like the blog!
Thanks for the presentation at the Bee last night. I was able to glean a few tips to improve my site. And by the way, there are some great recipes here! thanks.
that is great! Thanks for coming and checking out my blog. If you ever need anything, just ask!
Bree,
The blog presentation you gave at The Bee last week energized me (at least for the moment). My eyes opened wide at the realization that a blog must be tended like a newly planted garden and then kept current/watered/weeded… the metaphor has run its course. I appreciated it.
You mentioned that keeping current with your far-flung collaborators/partners/writers on another blog is a work in progress. The online collaborative site that my co-workers and other users play with is helpful (not selling anything–just a suggestion).
Caramel brownies are in my future–thanks.
thanks CheezWhiz, thanks for coming.
🙂 What a creative & lovely blog. I can’t wait to read more. -Bella
thank you Bella! Welcome!
This is a beautiful blog! I can’t wait to keep reading.
Welcome Ellie! I hope that you do.
Yesterday I found this site and could get enough of it. The pictures were beautiful. I already made the Chocolate Kahlua Cake last night and brought it into work today. It is 10:00 am and it is gone 🙁 I can’t wait to do Vals Corn Pudding and of course what I was looking for boeuf bourguignon. Great blog and website.
Welcome Lisa Marie! Glad that the cake was a hit.
hi bree…i just found your website and am so excited , i am a foodie addict and spend too much time on the computer looking for inspiration, i have 5 kids and a busy home and this is my escape , my time to myself to do what i love…anyway i have bookmarked so many of your recipes and cant wait to try them, they look amazing and im glad i found you…!
(today i am making the chili, and the incredible looking cornbread)
Hi Nina! Welcome and thanks for reading. I am glad that you found me too. 🙂
Hi Bree, Just came across your website when I search for Tandoori Chicken Burgers. Love your site and like most people reading your blog, I am a foodie too. I am hooked on your site. The burgers look amazing by the way!!!
Welcome! I am glad that you found me.
Hi Bree,
Found you while I was looking at recipes on Tablespoon.com. I am probably old enough to be your mom but I enjoy the pictures of your family and appreciate the work of young mothers. I have four grown daughters myself and a grandaughter who is the light of my life! I lost my sister, Nancy, four weeks ago today to breast cancer. She was 55. Last week a package arrive in the mail for me from her husband. It was her handmade cookbook made from an old binder filled with all of her favorite recipes. It even had pages taken from my mom’s old BH&G cookbook that she used when we were little girls. The kind of cookbook that is just a mess, you know. I give her credit that she had actually organices it into categories-appetizers, main dishes, and of course, the large section being cookies and cakes. For me it would be the pie section! Well, it is alot like your cookbook that you desribe at the beginning of your blog. It was a precious gift to me. Thanks for sharing and maybe I will add some of your recipes to it. Can’t wait to try some. Thanks for sharing part of your life with all of us!
Welcome Sandy! I am so sorry about your sister, but so happy that a big part of her will be with you. Treasure her recipes.
Hi Ms. Bree! You have a wonderful family! And I simply love your kitchen! I have two kids (soon to be three), and they love it whenever I bake. Your website gives me a lot of ideas on how to keep my boys thrilled once I pick up the ingredients. Again, thank you for sharing your stories and knowledge to us, God bless always. 🙂
thank you Iery! I love cooking with my kids.
Hi Bree! It took me a while to figure it out the reason behind the food pictures on facebook. I am glad a finally click on one the slow cook apple butter and found your wonderful blog. Almost 7 years have passed and I still remember vividly your warm personality, your beautifully decorated home, your amazing cooking, and your perfect smile. Congratulation on your “BakedBree.com”! Yes, I am. http://www.bakedbree.com/photography should answer your questions.
Hi Bree,
You probably don’t remember me, I used to work for Buddy and Ann in Linwood. I was looking for lemon meringue pie and I found yours. You were talking about your grandfather Buddy passing away and I put two and two together and figured out who you are. I love your entire family and I remember you as a little girl.
I’m so glad I found you. I always speak to Ann. Please say hi to your parents for me. I’m baking Buddys pie on Sunday and I’ll let you know how it turns out. He was absolutely the best!
Of course I remember you!! What a small world. Buddy was a wonderful man and we all miss him very much. I will tell my parents that you said hello. Take care!
Hi Bree,
I just wanted to say that I love your site and all the recipes you share with us. I’ve already tried a couple of them and I’m crazy about those Peanut Butter Cookies. Wow!
Greetings from Portugal.
Thank you Silvia! You are so sweet to tell me…
As you can see by my addy, I’m in your area (at least your current area!). I love recipes and can only dream of my recipes being as organized as your messy folder. No joke!!!! Probably my favorite part about your site is the beginning picture of all of the ingredients. I’ve started many a recipe without getting out all of my ingredients first and later finding out I’m missing something. This is a good reminder!
I am glad that it helps you. Where are you in Kansas?
Hi Bree,
Coincidentally, my name is Bree also. I stumbled upon you site after watching a Pillsbury Cresent Roll commercial on how to make Baked Bree and the googled it.. Every so often when I meet someone new, I get the Bree cheese joke and thought I should at least maybe try some one day. And look where the internet took me, your site! Couldn’t have happened at a better time, I am in need of some good recipes to make for my husband and daughter. I am not much of a cook, but I try 🙂 Thanks for putting yourself out there and helping the world one recipe.
Welcome! People think that they are so clever about the baked brie joke. At least I got a good blog name out of it!
at a time 🙂
My folders are the same, I love to clip recipes from magazines, read recipe books and most of all cook!!! We very rarely eat the same entrees at dinner in my home because there are so many delicious recipes to try. Love your website, plan to visit it often. Thank you♫
We do not either. Lots of variety around here.
Just wanted to let you know I absolutely love your cooking blog! I sometimes use your recipes for various parties and I’m constantly visiting the site for new ideas. As a 25 year old, male, student currently living in Wisconsin – I’m fairly inexperienced in the kitchen. The pictures + your explanations really help make the things I try fairly easy and fun. Thank you!
Thank you Christopher! I am glad that the pictures help you.
I’m so glad I ran into this blog. I love to cook and the recipes on this site look wonderful. Can’t wait to try Wes’ recipe called “man log.” LOL. I’ll be making the stuffed mushrooms this weekend for a party we’re having. Your site is really nicely set up. Can’t wait to read more!
Welcome! Man log is so gross that it is good!
Bree, I found your blog through a tiramisu recipe pinned on Pinterest. What a FIND!!! Your pictures are incredible, your recipes are incredible. I love how you take pictures of the ingredients, and I love that there are so many pictures. The blog is just fantastic….I am grabbing a cup of tea, and settling in to read from beginning to end. LOVE IT! And BTW – I think one of your children is my son’s soul twin….mine eats bread, crackers and cheese…some pasta… definitely carbs, and cheese. It’s fun isn’t it….
Thank you so much for sharing through your blog!
welcome, I am so glad that you found me.
Hi Bree,
I’m absolutely in love with your food blog and wanted to nominate you for Versatile Blogger Award. If you decide you want to participate, I’ve got all the info on my blog at http://bit.ly/y51lkR. It’s just my way of saying you are rockin’ it!
Best,
Laura
Found you via Ziplist. Thanks for sharing and look forward to trying many tast-looking recipes.
welcome Michelle! Glad that you found me.
Hi Bree! I have to say, I am quickly falling in love with your recipes and look forward to trying some. I am so inspired by your beautiful photography too. I wanted to reach out and say hi as I, too, am a Coast Guard wife! There aren’t too many of us out there so I love when I find some good ones 🙂 I look forward to looking through your other blog. Thank your husband for his service!
Hi Shannon! It seems like they are not a lot of us, but I seem to be running into Coasties everywhere! I recently hired a new web designer and it turns out that she is a Coast Guard wife too! Thanks for writing!
Dear Bree,
Your website is absolutely beautiful and inspiring! Thank you for sharing your wonderful recipes!

Thank you so much Carol!
Hi Bree…let me start by saying your web site is beautiful and I enjoy reading it!!! Cooking is a passion of mine and I recently started my own blog….I’m thoroughly enjoying sharing my food and family stories…so far it’s been a blast (it’s only been about a week), but I’m looking forward to doing this for a long time!!! Hope you’ll stop by and give my blog a look!!!
Thanks,
Patti
P.S. my recipe binder is in WAY worse shape than yours!!! I might have to work on that!!! 🙂
Welcome to the world of food blogging!
I found this recipe and made it tonight to go with a home-made, cream less tomato soup… HUGE hit!! You were SO right, I think he’ll love me forever!!! Thank you, THANK you for posting!!!!
you are welcome! Glad that he liked it.
Hi Bree,
Thanks for your website! It is beautiful! I saw your recipe for Irish Cream cake on the Betty Crocker email newsletter. I was wondering if you had a non-alcoholic version? I was thinking of substituting the Irish Cream Coffee Creamer for the Bailey’s, but I didn’t know if I would do the same amount?
Thanks,
JoLynn
I sent you an email, but I am not sure. It probably would work, but I cannot say for sure since I did not test it that way.
Hi Bree! I too found your Irish Cream cake recipe on the Betty Crocker e-mail newsletter. I’m wondering if this recipe will be okay for cupcakes? Also, I love the blog
— I am a new blogger, and yours is very inspiring!
Thank you Lori. My assumption would be yes, but I cannot say for sure because I did not test it for cupcakes. It has a lot of moisture from the sour cream, etc, so it might be too wet.
Bree,
I just recently came across your website and everything on here is droolworthy. I have found so many recipes that I want to make already, I can’t wait to try them out! Thanks for all the wonderful recipes, can’t wait to see your creations to come!
Welcome Lynsey! Come back and say hi again soon.
I ‘ve been making & sharing your recipe for Slow Cooker Sweet & Spicy Nuts. They are so yummy that I have to keep making them again & again, since I keep sharing them with friends & co-workers.
I make them in the oven 250 degrees for 1.5 hrs, & they come out just perfect.
Thank you for this delicious recipe!
I make them at least once a week. I started buying nuts at Costco! Thanks for the oven version!
Hi Bree! I live in Halifax and my four children were born at the IWK (I think I read that you were here for one of your chidren’s births, I may be mistaken as I can’t find it now). Came to your site today for chicken gravy with no drippings and love that post. Thanks for it and keep ’em coming!
My Ava was born in Kentville. Small world!
Hi Bree
I’ve just come across your blog, and I must say.. I’VE FALLEN IN LOVE!
I’m 21 and i’m from North Wales, UK. I’m heading to California this summer to work on a summer camp, teaching kids culinary! Now i’ve been looking at your cupcakes especially, and I was wondering if you’d email me with some recipes that you think would be good for the kids at camp! The age range is 8-16 and I’d love to teach them some fantastic recipes! Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated! I really love your 4th of July cupcake, and was wondering what you did to make the white cake mix?
Louise 🙂
Any of the cupcake recipes would be good for kids. Look in the recipe section and there is a category just for cupcakes. I added food coloring to the cake mix, the instructions are in the post.
I went on the internet looking forSteve anc Cookies blueberry pie recipe. I came across your sit . My daughter, grandson and his wife and baby had dinner Sunday at S&C. Today is Night in Venice. My daughters husband passed in May and she is having a Memory Theme. My son in law always enjoyed having dinner at S&C. His favoriite was meatloaf. I purchased a meatloaf dinner as my memory of him , which i wil take to the gathering. I am going to try your bluebery pie recipe.. I’m hoping it turns out like the picture of yours as it looks like S&C.
Hope you liked it!

Welcome to Northern Virginia, Bree! May your time here be blessed. 🙂
thank you Christy!
It didn’t dawn on me immediately, when I came across your blog the first time around (stumbled across your funfetti cake recipe), that you live locally. After all, I do most of my grocery shipping at Giant. Anyway, hope you’re enjoying NoVA. I’m making that funfetti cake recipe SOON!
We do! For a few more months anyway. 🙂 We are off on another Coast Guard adventure this summer.
I follow your blog and love your recipes, which have always really great pictures. I had to share it on my blog, because we should share beauty all over the world. 🙂
I hope you don’t mind!
Of course not, thank you for the share!
I made the halibut fish tacos but with tilapia as well and all I have to say is WOW!!!! DELISH
I am so glad! Love those tacos. I haven’t made them in awhile, thanks for the reminder.
I love that you are so giving…my mom wouldn’t let me in the kitchen, so I had to learn to cook on my own when I got married …I sure panicked when the stove was moved into our first apartment…Oh how! I hated the cleaning of my first turkey!~…. I didn’t even know how to make a pot of coffee..many mistakes ,but I wanted to please my hubby and his belly….I’m a widow now my hubby passed away from cancer..so I cook for me , friends & my brother……I Love your recipes ,I’m better vision ally then just giving me instructions…I wish Jim was here so he could enjoy them…thanks again for sharing….Debbie
Thank you Deborah for writing. I am so sorry for your loss.
I love seeing your blog in my feed everyday, your spirit, beautiful photos and delicious recipes make me smile.
My dad was in the Coast Guard and we moved every two years growing up, although I am sure at times it was a challenge it allowed us to see so many great places, meet many interesting people and it also made my siblings and I very close and all these years later we still are.
Thank you for sharing your light!
You are a sweetheart, thank you! I agree with you, I love moving around. Where was your favorite place to live?
Hi Bree! Well, we are still following your blog and yummy recipes. We are still at Ft. Hood Texas and wish the best for your family and you as you head out for another adventure!
Blessings, Deanna, Joe and the Kiddos!
Hello! Hope that you are doing well. Thank you, we are so excited about this move!

God bless 🙂
Thank you so much James, I appreciate the kind words. I agree, family time is to be cherished.
When i found your website (looking for a certain cookie recipe) and saw that you liked anthro .mugs and mason jars, I was thrilled. When I discovered the recipes had step by step photographed instructions, I was hooked! I am a novice baker, and I believe I will be much, much better now that I found your sight.
Thanks so much!
Anne
Welcome Anne! It seems we have a lot in common!
Just love your about tab! I can totally relate to the binder, and the thought of it catching on fire! Made me laugh out loud! Thanks!! I’m looking forward to following all your recipes!!
Thank you Sarah! Welcome!
Bree,
I have been taking notes from you with all of your wonderful posts for a few years now! I am completely inspired by you and have now journeyed myself towards my own website with my sister! I just never got around to tell you how inspirational you are to me, being new at all of this is all really exciting!
Keep being you<3
xo
You are the sweetest, thank you so much! And congratulations on your new website, that’s so exciting!
Hi Bree,
I just laughed out loud reading your About section, thank you for brightening my Saturday. We are holed up not exactly embracing the arrival of winter in MI. I was searching for dinner options with what we have in the freezer/pantry and found your site. I will definitely return.
Kate
I’m glad that you liked it. 🙂
Hi, Bree!
I just stumbled onto your website. LOVE it and am excited to start following it. I also signed up for the “Happy Friday” emails. I can’t wait to try out your recipes. 🙂
I read that you like to read. I have a book suggestion for you (if you haven’t read it yet.) It is called “The Girl Who Could Fly.” It is more of a kids’ book, but it is a really good read. 🙂 Li
I’m so glad that you found me. Thanks for the suggestion!
Hi again, Bree!
I accidently left off the author’s name. Her name is Victoria Forester. Sorry about that.
Happy reading! 🙂
Li
Congratulations on being featured in Artful Blogging magazine! I almost cried reading your article at the local Hastings. Me and my husband don’t have kids by choice and I only moved thrice in my lifetime; it’s not really that bad but for some reason I can relate to your story of the feeling of being alone hence my outlet is also cooking and talking about food and eating them. Wishing you and your family well!
Thank you! I am so happy that you liked the essay. Thanks for stopping by.
I, too, enjoy the smell of your children after a day at the beach.
It’s the absolute most heavenly smell in the world.
I love finding a local website about cooking, I stumbled upon you today and I love your site.
I love that you are from MA like myself.
Welcome!
Hi, Bree –
Congratulations on your upcoming move to Germany. I, too, am a transplant, and live near Frankfurt. Although I haven’t yet had the chance to visit Stuttgart, my dad, who was in the Army, helped build up the Süddeutscher Rundfunk after the war when he became one of its first directors. You may want to look up the article on Wikipedia: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%BCddeutscher_Rundfunk . It’s in German, so you’ll be using your newly acquired skills to read it, lol. I wish you much joy for this new page in your lives, and God Bless.
Thank you Cindy! We are very excited about our upcoming move. 🙂
