The Basic Key is for use with consumer-facing, education, and non-profit applications that qualify for free use. Categories of applications that may qualify for Basic Key use in production include: Non-profit public websites, education uses, and consumer applications such as Windows Store apps, Mobile, and other public websites. The Enterprise Key is for consumer applications that do not qualify for limited free use and for enterprise applications that are used over a private network by authenticated enterprise users – such as employees or agents of the enterprise.
