Bitterroot (Lewisia rediviva)
Bitterroot is a common perennial found growing in dry grasslands and sagebrush slopes of the south Okanagan basin which includes the Similkameen Valley where these flowers were photographed. These flowers, with their tiny reduced leaves borne on a fleshy stem, open only when the sun is out!
