Nice! Lineage OS is finally going to stop lying about their Android security patch level. (and introduces some other good sec improvements)

Right now it seems that Samsung has stopped cooperating with Google in any meaningful way. (besides the things they are contractually obliged, obviously). We have seen the same happen over and over again in the last few years: If a new initiative around Android is announced, Samsung is (nearly) always missing.

Maybe i'm just lucky, but: The Android P Beta 2 is giving me really impressive battery life on the Pixel 2 XL. I have been consistently getting 6 hours of Screen-On-Time for the last few days (usually I got more like 4 hours). Guess both adaptive battery with all its new background restrictions and the improved adaptive brightness are both contributing to that improvement (which also means that most likely my typical screen brightness is not as high as it was before, but if I don't see the difference - who cares?)

Also Google finally nailed the UI by providing easy to understand information about potential causes of battery drain, helping the users understand what is going on (and in some cases: do something against it)

So with this the big improvements for the next Wear OS generation are:
better battery life

I actually really like squeezing the phone to open Google Assistant, so I hope this report is true. Having said that, I wouldn't mind if the rumors about wireless charging are also true ;)

Aaaaand Sony is the first OEM to push the Android P beta 2 to one of their devices. Great to finally see some real progress in the Android update landscape.

The plot thickens. Looks like the Pixel 3 could get support for wireless charging (back).

This is one interesting last minute change: Android 9.0 beta 2 introduces a whole new separate permissions group for Call Logs. That is a pretty great privacy improvement as it's now much clearer when an app wants to read the users call logs (which infamously was done by Facebook Messenger and Facebook Lite)
