Split to Pieces
These rocks only occur two places in the world. I'm on my way up north, perhaps to shoot the other ones today.
There was a fair amount of wading in the water to get these shots. Something I suppose you get use to when shooting sea scapes. Oddly it wasn't that cold this morning, and not long after I would see a strange blue bird that I mistook for a Kiwi. I never saw the Kiwi.

Let this be a tribute to the loved ones that have passed away. Let them know that life here is still beautiful and we will enjoy the moments that they gifted us.

Whispering Mist
This was my first time up close and personal with this somewhat famous lake. Back in 2012 on the Pacific Crest Trail I came near it on a 30+ mile hiking day trying to meet a friend on time at what is quite possibly the scarriest hotel on the planet (if you've seen The Shining) called the Timberline Lodge. I'll actually never forget the feeling of comming down the hill after walking some 20 miles to find out I'm staying in THAT hotel!? You must be crazy... until you get inside and realize the place is decked to the nines.
Also if you're night hiking around here you might encounter some very strange large toads. I have pictures of them, and almost stepped on a few. They were mostly by Timothy lake, and were as big as a shoe.
About the photo... well it was just a great day to be there. Lucky you could say, but then the other 9 days we were out we got nothing of interest. So Maybe you could also say there was a lot of determination and grit in this picture.

Into The Jungle
Today we'd see our first wild Bengal Tiger. They have plenty of places to hide... and naturally are hard to track down in the jungle.

Te Aurora
This was a gift on my last day of the Te Aurora. I had only planned to tramp a section of the South Island - perhaps a quarter of the entire trail. This is one of the photographs I got to keep from my work on that trip. And work is an understatement as anyone who's hiked the Richmond Range knows. I'll always have fond memories of the trek, but it was fraught with challenges, and treacherous conditions at times. I'll never forget summiting a peak as a snow storm came in with high winds, it was potentially disastrous. Thankfully my hiking partner, although relatively new to backcountry, was stout as an ox and had prepared meticulously by following the suggestions on my ultra light gear list. Most people perhaps wouldn't have had the resolve to make it through some of the most challenging terrain I've been through (while supposedly on trail).

Summer Blanket
Summer is the best time to see blankets of fog covering Marin and the surrounding bay area. The high heat from the central valley colides with coastal evaporation and cool air which keeps the area blanketed in clouds of vapour. This is what the fog looks like at sunset from around 10,000 feet - looking down at the golden gate bridge.
