Another of the castles of King Edward I that make up a World Heritage Site here in Wales. This is Caernarfon Castle in the northwest of the country.

Construction of Caernarfon Castle started in 1283 and the town walls came slightly later. Isn't it still such an impressive structure today!

This enormous ancient complex is one of the four castles of Edward I that makes up one of the Welsh World Heritage Sites.

Around it, the town of Conwy is also a charming little place to explore.

Tucked away in a small town on the Croatian coast is one of Europe’s finest examples of Byzantine art.

It's a World Heritage Site and offers an amazing splash of culture on a beautiful beach holiday.

The historic centre of Graz is a World Heritage Site and I have loved exploring it the past few days. If you're visiting this Austrian city yourself, make sure you see Eggenberg Palace, the Clock Tower, and the Armoury!

The Latvian capital Riga is famous for its Art Nouveau buildings. In the centre of the city, about a third of the buildings have this style. The one in this photo is one of the most famous.

Just look at the detail - it's quite incredible to see how much decoration is in just one tiny part of the facade of just one building.

Most of the Art Nouveau that was built in Riga was done in a very short period at the start of the 1900s when there was a huge economic boom!

This is, without a doubt, one of the most incredible ancient sites you will ever see.

This is Lumbini - the birthplace of Buddha - in the dusk. For Buddhists, this site in Nepal is one of the most important pilgrimages you can do.

For non-Buddhists like me, it is still an extremely powerful experience. Particularly at this time of day, when there are few people around and the sky is vibrant, it makes you think about more than just yourself.

There are seven locations around the city that make up the World Heritage Site called 'Kathmandu Valley'.

This one, Kathmandu Durbar Square, was damaged in the earthquake of 2015. There's still more restoration work to do, but that doesn't mean it's not full of life!!

Just a few days ago, UNESCO took the Belize Barrier Reef off the 'In Danger' list.
