We run a store for a client for the last 12 months and have been taking debit card payments since day 1. I wasn't even aware this was an issue at some point. We offer paypal as well which can deal with debit card processing but we've definitely had debit cards processed with Shopify's own card processing gateway.Mar 18, 2016

The first guru made a mistake, Shopify do take debit cards. After contacting Stripe, other Shopify online groups and then Shopify a third it was confirmed that they do.

I got my already programmed credit card to
