I'm more surprised that this is top news... If you don't like it buy something else. I have an android phone that works great, an iPad that works like shi..... And a MacBook that suits my needs. You find the product that suits your needs jack or no jack... 

I can't imagine being without my music when the battery dies on my Bluetooth device. That's why I ALWAYS use wired earphones.

Obviously Apple don't think their customers listen to music much.

I've always thought iPhone's are overpriced garbage. This pretty much confirms that.

+Dan RC sorry but modern Bluetooth speaker, headfones or headsets have a playtime of 8hours and some have more.
I also have a cheap one for only 9,99€ it plays 5-6hours so for many people it will be OK.

You'll never get such issues with wired earphones.
Bluetooth is great, but if you love music, it'll ALWAYS be a compromise, (one i WON'T be forced into taking), but then the words Choice & Apple never really fit.

As I said in the post right before yours Apple will be made to use the same charger as everyone else as of next year. Also this story is pure rumour at present.

I am outraged. Wait... No I'm not. The only reason I am not mad is because I have always avoided Apple products because of compatibility issues.

I am also not surprised that Apple would do away with the one thing that made the iPod worth purchasing.. The headphone jack. Without the headphone jack the iPod was nothing more than an external storage device.

It's still just a rumour, but if it is true, dumbest thing Apple, or any mobile tech company for that matter, could do. Headphones are big business and sales continue to rise, so why remove the one universal and standard bit of kit on all mobile devices?

Well I think they are bundling Bluetooth head sets with the phone. I never buy apple products so I'm not bothered.

Seeing as USB-c is poised to replace every charger plug, that issue is a bit moot. If people were not always looking for their phones to get thinner, there would be no reason to remove the port. I don't see iPods having the same issue, as no one has spoken of an iPod without a headphone port. There are two smaller standards that could be used...

+Iain Mclean Apple owns the patent to the lightning connector, anyone wishing to make an adaptor will have to pay Apple to make it, which will no doubt cost a fortune and get passed on to customers.

It's up to Apple to decide what to include and not include into their new product. It's also up to customer to decide whether to buy or not to buy this new product. Don't see any problem with that.
