IPCC Climate Report

Limiting global warming to 1.5ºC would require rapid, far-reaching and unprecedented changes in all aspects of society, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) said in a new assessment. The Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals are the foundations for global efforts to address climate change. The purpose of the 2019 Climate Summit is to challenge states, regions, cities, companies, investors and citizens to step up action in six areas:

The road to the 2019 Climate Summit

We are significantly under-estimating the benefits of cleaner, climate-smart growth. Bold climate action could deliver at least US$26 trillion in economic benefits through to 2030. There are real benefits to be seen in terms of new jobs, economic savings, market opportunities, and improved well-being for people worldwide.

More than 100 heads of state and government will be attending the UN General Assembly. Climate change will be a major focus attention. Climate Week will take place during the week of 24-30 September, feature close to 150 events on climate change.

Faced with ecological, economic and social consequences of climate change, the One Planet Coalition mobilizes public and private actors. Through 12 commitments, this international coalition calls for concrete actions.

COP24 is the informal name for the 24th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change(UNFCCC).
