Holocaust Killing Sites in Belarus
About 800,000 Jews, 80% of Jewish population, perished in Holocaust in Belarus. Estimated number of killing sites in Belarus is about 500. Yad Vashem’s “Untold Stories” and “Online Guide of Murder Sites of Jews in the Former USSR” and Yahad-In Unum’s “Guide to The Holocaust By Bullets“ present wealth of information about Holocaust killing sites in Belarus.
Jewish community in Belarus pursue actively the installation of monuments at killing sites. In last 15 years 114 Holocaust memorials designed by Belarusian architect Leonid Levin have been erected at Holocaust killing sites in cities, towns and villages throughout the country.
The organization behind Belarus Holocaust Memorial Project, the Committee for the Preservation of Holocaust Victims’ Memory, maintain a website . The website displays interactive map shown a location of each erected memorial, location identifier is linked to appropriate monument’s page. Each page provides photos of a memorial and limited information about each monument, date of monument’s erection, number of Jews killed at the site and date of killing. The Committee was established by the Association of Jewish organizations in Belarus, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee office in Minsk, the Simon Mark Lazarus Foundation (United Kingdom), Miles and Marilyn Kletter Foundation(USA) and Warren and Beverly Geisler Foundation(USA).

Holocaust Killing Sites in Lithuania
Prior to the German invasion, the population of Jews was estimated to be about 210,000.
Lithuanian government statistics puts the number of Lithuanian Jews murdered in the Holocaust at 195,000 to 196,000; about 80,000 Jews were killed by October and about 175,000 by the end of 1941.
Number of known Holocaust killing sites in Lithuania is 202.
In 2010 the Vilna Gaon State Jewish Museum and the Austrian Verein Gedenkdienst initiated the project Holocaust Atlas of Lithuania, aimed at education and dissemination of information. The atlas consists of structured and concentrated information on all mass killing sites of Jews in Lithuania. It is the first publication with such comprehensive information on each murder site, because similar information was dispersed throughout publications or was still unpublished and available only in archives
Holocaust Atlas of Lithuania presents online map of Holocaust killing sites. The site has advanced search capabilities by location, date and perpetrators.
Additionally, Jewish communities of Lithuania created online database of Holocaust victims in Lithuania . lt/EN to revive and preserve the memory of Jews - Lithuanian citizens - and also of the Jews communities that were destroyed during the Holocaust, by the gathering archival, oral and all other information available. The database has 20231 records at present time.
