There is a lot to like about this spacious two bedroom loft but my two favorite things are the high windows and the stunning view over the rooftops of Paris. The interior has been designed by French firm Atelier Barda. The architectural point was to preserve the basic structure of the place by emphasizing the concrete in some places and playing on these darker shades of gray.

This beautiful New England inspired house in Maine, USA, is the home of sculptor Anthony Esteves and his wife and son. The traditional technique shou sugi and a self-made Japanese-style fermented paint made out of soot has been used for the black exterior of the building. The place is small (55m2 / 600 square feet) and the interior is modest yet cosy. There is just something special about the simple aesthetic that is warm and soothing.

This beautiful home is situated on Paros, a Greek island in the Aegean Sea. The house has some striking features, the stunning sea and harbour view being the most obvious one. But there is also the natural color and material palette which is simple yet warm. Greek studio Stone and Walls is responsible for the design. Their aim was to ensure the simplicity of the region’s architecture and respect the historical and environmental context of the building and its surroundings. Beige cement mortar has been used on the walls and floors which combines beautifully with the timber furnishings and doors. The result is a warm and calming atmosphere throughout the entire home.

Today’s post features a kitchen made and designed by UK kitchen & furniture manufacturer deVOL. The kitchen is stunning but what about that beautiful building which used to be an old cattle shed in North Norlfolk, UK! deVOL about this kitchen: “This deVOL Shaker Kitchen is on a big scale, yet it still seems to feel comfortable and homely and has the clever ability to feel both industrial and a little bit country chic. The big extraction unit sits perfectly next to the very domesticated Smeg Victoria range cooker and the grand brass pot filler. It’s the mix of concrete floors, brick walls and soft tones in the wooden worktops and copper sink that make this kitchen such a clever combination. We absolutely love the original artworks that were propped up around the room, these huge landscapes really added to the feeling of being in the wilds near the sea.”
