Wow I just read this story in about 30 minutes ... Great main character in a TOUGH situation! Shows how hardcore US Navy sailors really are.

A valuable resource for any indie author. Read it and you will know how to format your ebook. I thought it should be simpler, but when you consider your book is going to many distributors it's amazing how this works. After you complete the formatting and put your book on Smashwords, from here it will go to Apple iBooks, Barnes & Noble Nook and some others. This formatting is only one part of the task, first I have to write a good book. Even after it is published, I have to do the marketing. A lot of work!

I read this entire book and I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand it is a list of a whole lot of things for the new indie author to do. Creating accounts, setting up a website, telling friends, tagging metadata, blogging, joining groups, etc. I went off and did most of these activities and achieved a great sense of satisfaction. On the other hand, all the while I had a vague feeling that none of this will actually lead to selling books. Sure my mom and my cousin will grab my book, maybe a few people I meet online, etc. But will any of this add up to a best seller? Sorry to sound jaded but a lot of this reads like it's from a 'golden age' of indie publishing, maybe 5 years ago when the space was new and the possibilities were endless. There will be some great best sellers from the indie author space, but will an indie published book go viral because the author did all the tasks in this book? I'm not sure. I'm not confident that this book is a recipe for success. I think an author needs to write a great book first of all. After that, there are a lot of reasons why it might or might not become a best seller. I think fate and chance and dumb luck and magic are involved. Sure, do all the stuff in this book but it's entirely possible that taking advice from a gypsy psychic might help you even more . . . that and write a great story.

This story kept my attention through most of it. The first paragraph hooked me with it's creepy description of working in the mines of Kentucky. The story was set up well and the characters kept me interested. After a while it felt a little like the author was just telling the story and moving the characters through the plot. Then it got creepy again and the ending was good.

This is kind of like the movie Clerks but with temps in the office environment. This author has a sharp sense of humor and uses a lot of comical scenes and observations. There are some good gas like references to bodily functions, people being injured, mocking each other. I encourage this author to keep going, keep writing and keep applying their sense of humor to create comical stories.

This is a good one. I just read it again after reading it last year and it was better the second time through. You will really like the main character and the setting (on an aircraft carrier at sea) is vividly described. I didn't realize that this is one story in a collection, so I'll check out the rest.

Veterans seem to find their way into strange situations. I guess when you have been to war and back, you spend the rest of your days on the edge. This story tells a slice of life. It is fast paced with some snappy dialog.

Ok, now I'm hooked and want only to find out what will happen next. This thing could go in many different directions, either the character has been abducted by aliens, in a post apocalypse nightmare or who knows what. Only way to find out is to read the next episode.

This interesting history of digital technology seems to be written by someone who was there at the start and lived / worked through most of it.

This is filled with the hard core blood and guts Navy action that I really enjoy. 5-stars for sure. Thanks, Shipmate for taking the time to write this all down. From my perspective it seems this author may very well have lived through some or all of this.
- The Pirate, Part I: The Traitor

I'm hooked on this series. I could not stop once I started reading the first few pages. The action is fast and true to life. The tech is real, but not overpowering. There are several characters all living on the wrong side of the law. I'm very curious about where this story will go next. I have a feeling it will get worse before it get's better for the main characters. Mr. Torres, please publish Part II right away so we don't have to wait too long.

I really like sea stories. I especially like stories with crime and ghosts and sailors who are up to no good. Given that, I'm willing to overlook some holes in the plot and sketchy action found in this story. There were also some scenes that were excellent and shocking.

I've read several stories by this author and I like his twisted, creative imagination. Always a unique point of view from an unusual perspective. Keep working at perfecting your gift.

There was a lot going on in this short time travel crime story. In a less skilled writer's hands this could have been a mess, but this author pulls it off quite nicely. A complex crime, scenes in the future and the past, but it's put together well. Impressive. Looking forward to more installments.
