ReelAbilities: Houston Film & Arts Festival is a FREE city-wide film and arts festival dedicated to presenting films, art exhibitions, performances, and speakers that celebrate the lives, stories, and talents of people with disabilities.

Mission:

The overall mission of ReelAbilities is to bring systemic change to the culture of Houston’s families, institutions, places of work, and communities to be more inclusive of people with disabilities, ultimately making the subject of inclusion an identifiable and enriching element of Houston’s distinct culture.

Specific Goals:

• Celebrate the lives, stories and talents of people with disabilities
• Change perceptions and remove stigma surrounding people with disabilities
• Eliminate barriers to accessibility in all aspects of life: arts and culture, education, and employment
• Encourage collaboration across arts disciplines, organizations, communities
• Involve and amplify the voices of local and national disability representatives and communities throughout all aspects of Festival planning, programming, and events
• Educate and inspire the next generation of artists, audiences, future leaders, and employers

ReelAbilities Houston Host City Organizer, the JFS Alexander Institute for Inclusion, in collaboration with the Houston Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities, features a robust and exciting array of films, musicians, special events, and extraordinary speakers from around the world.
