Food has evolved along with humans consuming it. Yesterday’s mutton became today’s boneless buffalo wing and will become tomorrow’s Soylent — or something like that. As scientists find different ways to sustain human life, our traditional idea of food may be broken into to ideas: nutrient delivery systems and indulgences. If that happens, we’re likely to spend less time eating in a traditional sense and more time savoring. For now, we can only hope to take some pleasure from our mastications.
