Man of Steel (2013)
Overrated, but still a good picture!
Zach Snyder showed us in his latest movie a completely new Superman, never seen before like this, and that's the most important part about it. The way he introduced Clark Kent as a character was kind of awesome and especially to "not-fans" it is easy and comfortable to understand Superman in all his aspects. Especially th flashbacks to his youth and his relationship to his father that was shown in the movie very detailed help understanding the main character.
"Man of Steel" is visually top! Everything looks just as meant to be, no cheap effects, but that'S actually expectable.
Now to the negative parts: The Story: Storytelling is badly made, for the first halt of the film doesn't actually tell a story but showing various scenes to explain different things about Superman and the Superman Universe. The main story starts pretty late and ends sooner than expected because the last 40 minutes consist of people getting smacked through various skyscrapers , which repeats about 6-7 times.
The ending: As mentioned before, the last 40 minutes are nothing but action, action, action. Although it looks very good, it soon gets boring to watch the 15th building going down. And when you think it's over, the next walls are crumbling down. And then the next..i think i made my point.
The length:143 min are like 30 minutes too long minimum for a film with that little story. It really gets exhausting through the end to concentrate.
All in all, "Man of Steel" could be the fundamental piece for the following Superman movies, which i am looking forward to. Maybe now, that the background is filled, they may concentrate on storytelling to really fill a 143 min. movie.
