Polite Grandmother Tells Google ‘Thank You’
If you needed another reason to think that people in their 80s and 90s are part of the “Greatest Generation” look no further than Liverpool, England. Last week, 86-year-old Mary Ashworth has delighted the Internet after her grandson, Ben, posted a picture of her unbelievably polite Google search. “Please translate these roman numerals mcmxcviii thank you,” she asked.
Since the tweet was posted on June 9, it’s been retweeted over 47,000 times and Ben can’t believe it. It’s “utterly mad! The fact it’s gone all around the globe is crazy! But it seems to be making people happy which is great,” he told CNN. “After the absolute atrocity in Orlando people need a reason to smile.” Google seemed to think the same thing and it returned Mary’s politeness with some of its own, along with the answer to her query.
