Start your day off right with “Harambee.” It means “Let’s pull together.”

Children at the Kairos Freedom School in Norfolk included a Harambee routine every morning of their summer program, which the community foundation helped to fund with a three-year grant.

It is a free, six-week summer program that provides academic enrichment through a multicultural curriculum in order to support children and families around five essential components: high quality academic enrichment, ...parent and family involvement, civic engagement and social action, inter-generational leadership development, and health and nutrition.
