A big congratulations to Jockey for its powerful ad "Show 'Em What's Underneath. Show 'Em Your Jockey: Chris Van Etten" winner of the ANA Marketers Multicultural Awards, in the People with Disabilities category!
Since its inauguration, the winners of this award have been thoughtful and impactful advertisements featuring individuals with physical disabilities. With over 63 million people with disabilities living in North America, and who control $200 billion in spending power..., we believe more companies will be making measurable effort to connect with consumers with disabilities.
We thank Jockey and the other two finalists, Square Enix and Toyota, among many other organizations, for engaging the disability community in their marketing campaigns.

“Too often organizations look at disability through that legacy lens of philanthropy and regulation. What we’re doing is telling them there’s a market opportunity here.” – Simon Dermer, eSSENTIAL Accessibility's managing director.
PDFs are great for ensuring designs and layouts don't change, and are used in many settings and situations - from bills to forms to eBooks. Unfortunately they also have several barriers automatically included, unless it’s been designed with accessibility in mind. When these are removed, people with disabilities can access them, and a better user experience is created for everything. Learn more here: https://www.essentialaccessibility.com/…/pdf-accessibility…/
The travel industry needs to focus on being inclusive of people with disabilities, who accounted for almost $35b in spending over a recent two year period. Our column via Runway Girl Network http://bit.ly/2xnu7YC
Despite providers’ best attempts to be accessible, people with disabilities still face many barriers to quality healthcare. These barriers often start from a person’s first interaction with a website. https://goo.gl/CV2kn6
As companies improve their web accessibility, they need to ensure that their sites are accessible in mobile environments too. Mobile devices are becoming ubiquitous, and 70% of adults with disabilities under the age of 65 use a smartphone. Companies whose websites and apps are accessible in mobile environments will benefit. https://goo.gl/DmT2i1
The newly refreshed Section 508 comes into effect on 18 January 2018. However, the question remains: Do institutions of higher education need to comply? https://goo.gl/zG4hji
As more and more companies find that they need to comply with Section 508, there are 6 good reasons why your organization should also be compliant: https://goo.gl/u2tQCY
Travelers with disabilities look for specific information when planning a trip - from researching a destination to the facilities available at a hotel. Due to a lack of accurate information available and poor digital accessibility however, many people with disabilities either rely on word of mouth recommendations or opt not to travel.
