Nestled in the forested hills of NSW, with scenic views of the Great Dividing Range, the area was named as such by the early pioneers that obviously thought this lush green land was a blessing. Down a dark, unpaved road and through rusty iron gates lies a dimly lit cottage. It was eerily quiet as we approached the house, and to be truthful, we were a little apprehensive. But, what we found was the sweetest Yiddishe Mama you have ever met. Full of personality and incredible stories, at 90 years old she's as boisterous as ever. Yet, she is ever so lonely. Her husband died years ago and her children live a flight away. She's a pro at technology and proudly showed us her expertise at using an Ipad (she knew more than us!! :D) But she misses the human interaction that she so enjoyed in her younger years. We stayed for hours, talking, sharing stories and singing songs of her childhood. It's incredible to watch someone be transported back in time as they listen to a song. You could see in her face as she listened that she was in another place, remembering happy moments in a different time.
