You Are Not Alone

There is an old proverb of unknown origin that speaks of a man who has fallen in a hole and sees no way out. He hollers for help, and eventually a rugged man walks by and, upon hearing the man’s plea and seeing his predicament, tells the man that he needs to pick himself up by the bootstraps and find a way out on his own, before going on his way.

A holy man walks by and hears the man’s desperate cry. He tells him that he will say a prayer for him that he wi...ll find his way out and then scurries off. Finally, an ordinary man walks by the hole and sees the first man and his situation. He listens to the man’s plea for help. Then, without warning, the ordinary man jumps down into the hole with the first man. “Why did you do that?” the first man asks. The ordinary man replies, “Because I have been in this hole before, and I know the way out.”

Jesus Christ is such a man. According to the Bible, Jesus is the Son of the living God, but He is also God Himself. Yet, in John 1:14, we find out that this Son of God came down to Earth and became a man and lived among the human race.

Why?

So we would have a true Advocate interceding for us forever, One who fully understands what we go through and One who knows the way out.

So, if you feel as though you have fallen in a hole, suffering through some trial to which you see no way out, take heart that there is an Advocate interceding on your behalf who knows exactly what you’re going through. Jesus can help you - follow Him. He knows how to get you out of what you are facing right now.

The Unseen Army

Do you believe in angels? I want to tell you that I do. I believe there are myriads and myriads of good angels who are given charge over God’s people.

Another passage says that God will give His angels charge over us to guard us in all our ways. I tell you, I believe we need the guardianship, the protection and the support of angels. I’m glad to know that wherever I go there’s an angel of God that encamps around about me and he delivers me.

There was a prophet in the Old Testament, the prophet Elisha. At a certain time he was in a city besieged by a large alien army that was there to take him, to capture him. His servant went up on the roof and pointed out to him the tremendous numbers of the opposing army, but Elisha prayed for that young servant and said, “Lord, open this young man’s eyes.” And when He opened his eyes he saw the armies of God around about the prophet, far greater in number and infinitely greater in power than those invading alien armies. And I believe that if God could open our eyes we’d see it’s true today. Those that be with us are more than those that be with them. We have a great unseen army on our side.

Let’s be encouraged, let’s take heart, let’s reckon with the presence of the Lord’s angels encamping round about us to deliver us.
